suck it, Bama

That result upped the chances of 5 or 6 SEC teams in the playoff.

Notre Dame is pretty close to being the 2015 Ohio State / 2023 Georgia team that's obviously playoff caliber but gets boxed out by a near perfect storm of results from all the other contenders.

If both Notre Dame and Miami end up winning the rest of their games then Miami should be ahead of ND.

I don't think there's any way both get in unless there's is more then expected craziness in the last few weeks of the season.

Their offense is very inconsistent.  I still wouldnt be surprised if they beat OSU

It’s weird they look terrible much of the time but I still think their offense has a much higher upside than last year and a bit less of a defensive upside. They are just horribly undisciplined due to some combination of youth (one of the youngest in FBS) and incompetent coaching.

They could lose out or they could beat Maryland and OSU and be on the CFP bubble. Who the hell knows

I think Navy or James Madison getting in is going to cause a stir. The 5 automatic bids to conference champions should at least be ranked in the top 20

I think 5 possibly yes.  I don't see a 6th possibility anymore, at least over Notre Dame in the standings.

And since I don't see anybody else having enough on their schedule to prove enough to pass Notre Dame, ND should be in with 2 more wins.  It would help if they were convincing wins like today was.  The only other one I see as a possibility of passing ND would be BYU.  The committee has ranked Miami too far down that I can't see them passing ND at this point if both win out.

ESPN’s projections (based on this week) have 5 SEC, 3 Big Ten, 1 ACC, 1 Big XII, Notre Dame and Navy.  BYU left out

I don't see ND getting left out. That tight loss to TAMU will carry a lot of weight. Plus, I want to see an IU-ND rematch on a neutral field in the playoff.

Would they swap teams to avoid rematches if possible or do they not take that into consideration? Would be easy to just swap ND and Bama or Oregon/OU so we get ND-OU and Bama-Oregon instead of the Bama-OU rematch.

They say they don't, but I think in a situation like this they'd come up with some justification to do it.

James Franklin already hired at a new school and there are zero concrete rumors about who Penn State is pursuing.

I mean, PSU probably has to wait for the regular season to be over before being able to interview anyone since anybody they're going to hire is more than likely a current head coach. And while I think moving on from Franklin was the right move for PSU, he was always going to have teams lining up to hire him.

Of course, just think it's funny that he landed on his feet so quickly while the top 10 list from PSU are all leveraging that into lucrative extensions at their current schools.

Penn State is basically going to hire the next James Franklin (overachiever at a small program) to replace James Franklin
