I know this is probably said every season - Seth Davis is a dipshit idiot.  High Point over Wisconsin?  Surprised he didn't say Penn would beat Illinois as well.

Yes, I'll own it, after seeing what Boyd/Blackwell did to Illinois and Michigan, didn't really think HP had a chance.  Maybe, the Badgers should have found a way to bring Big Ten officiating with them.

I thought Acuff was going to get 40 against Hawaii. The play a zero help defense, so it's completely 1 on 1 all game. Arkansas is handling them, but color me disappointed in only seeing 13 for him so far.

Jason Benetti is the biggest Fears apologist out there, what, is he getting paid by Izzo/MSU to continue to wax poetic about Fears?  Blabbing about Fears performance against the Illini after he cheap shot-ed the Minnesota guard.  Failing to mention Fears tried to trip Mirkovic, nope, keeps talking up Fears.

Benetti is the absolute worst.

I couldn’t watch HP/WI because of a massive time difference.  So I get to pretend it never happened.  I am on record saying they can beat anyone when they’re on and lose to anyone when they aren’t.  I guess that’s what happens when you live on the 3 and your inside game is trash.

I knew if the Illini came out aggressive and physical it wouldn't be a close game.  Same recipe for VCU, come to play and they should win.

give Benetti a break he has like six jobs

I believe he was also doing this game on less than a day's notice because Brian Anderson is sick

But specifics aside if you're deciding an otherwise terrific and beloved broadcaster is awful because he doesn't spend enough time railing on a player you hate for being dirty, you might want to take a breath or five.

That Kentucky-Santa Clara game was a great one.

Absolutely.  Santa Clara blew it by not fouling up 3 at the end of regulation.  They do that and they're very likely moving on.

It's probably best to ignore the broadcasting and focus upon the game.

You mean fouling before the 3 attempt, correct?

It’s easy to second guess after the fact but it happened super quick and was a miracle shot to tie. I don’t think it was an egregious mistake at all.

...I guess it's easy to say so in hindsight, because they are probably winning 97% of the time if they don't foul...but that's not as good as the 99.9% if they do.

I’d like the record to reflect that my distaste for Benetti is based on the totality of his work.

They definitely made a mistake and blew it, but I understand how heat of the moment mistakes happen. There was no timeout after Kentucky made their layup or after Santa Clara hit the 3. And in the timeout before the Kentucky layup, I’m sure they only went over what to do if Kentucky missed, if they tied it or if they hit a 3 to take the lead.
