Dallas is going to score 1,000 points against this defense.

Eberflus will get to walk off the field a winner.  PUKE

On the plus side I have Ceedee Lamb on my team, so yay?

definitely want to see Loveland/Burden and Turner get some snaps in this game. If they don't get some snaps, then why the hell did you draft them?

I've no doubt Loveland and Burden will get some snaps.

Someone on the Score, mentioned one of the reasons these rookies haven't played much is because of their efforts in practice

I guess Johnson isn't running a country club like Flus.  Hopefully they get more game action Sunday

Need to add Monangai to that list. While I have no doubt Lamb/Perkins/Fergusen will destroy our secondary, the Bears know Eberflus' defense and they should be able to score on his defense as well.

I'm probably not going to be able to watch this one til much later, Can't believe someone schedules a Celebration of Life on a Sunday during football season. I've already given the POA a piece of my mind for scheduling the annual meeting on a Sunday, but they did say I was welcome to bring a tv to the festivities. I was going to, but after last week's thrashing, I feel like I'll look like a complete idiot bringing a tv to an outdoor party on the lake for such a pathetic team. I'll just peak in on my phone and actually watch later. It's already a juggling act trying to smoke a pork butt for the annual meeting while leaving for a few hours for the Celebration of Life.

People are deluding themselves if they believe Lamb, etc. are going to put up monumental numbers.  Sure, they'll probably have good to big days but, 50+ points, blah, blah for the Cowboys?  Not going to happen.  Unless, of course, the Bears lose multiple defenders again, don't think that'll occur.  Well, it is the Bears and the only kind of luck they have is bad so, perhaps, I shouldn't be certain they won't lose multiple defenders.

Has snap count been an issue for Loveland? I thought I read they lead the league in 12 personnel snaps and Loveland has been a big part of that. It’s targets that is the issue and there’s been a trend of Williams not targeting his TE.
Turner and Burden both missed a lot of time to injury. Non-elite rookie WR rarely make an impact. And Turner may have just been poorly scouted, with effort apparently lacking.

They are already missing multiple defenders. Stevenson has been the worst CB in the NFL so far this year, allowing a perfect 158.3 QB rating. Who is protecting against Lamb and Perkins?

Did Not Practice Thursday:

TJ Edwards

Jaylon Johnson

Kyler Gordon

Jaylon Jones

Kiran Amegadjie

D'Marco Jackson

Limited Practice

Grady Jarrett

I know that, I meant in-game, Edwards and especially Johnson going down like they did had a big impact.  They were doing alright until Johnson went down afterwards, the secondary was like a bunch of lost puppies.

Ok you convinced me, can I update my prediction to 3-2 Bears final score?

All kidding aside, it probably will be a lower scoring game then people are thinking. Bears even with Swift should be able to run the ball which will eat clock.

Overreactions to last week, people are thinking the Cowboys are just going to show up and be able to drop 600 yds and 50+ points on the Bears.  Without considering all the details making last week a perfect storm for the Lions.

The perfect storm was they were playing a bears D that came in mediocre at best with no pass rush and decent secondary that lost their best players. With an offense that cannot sustain multiple drives.

The cowboys also get to play a bears d with no pass rush and a secondary missing their best players, and an offense that cannot sustain multiple drives.

The Bears have been ripped apart by competent QBs in recent years and this team is no different. It would be shocking if they gave up less than 30. Dallas led the league in scoring in 2 of the past 4 seasons. They were third in one of those seasons and plummeted last year when Dak went down.  Unless they find a guy capable of getting to and hurting Dak, they are going to be bad in this game.

Dennis Allen did beat Dallas last year, but that was more about a Saints offense with Kamara running wild. I don’t see him pulling a magic act with this crew

All true.  Offense isn't going to be terrible forever, it'll improve, including in this game.

I don’t necessarily think they’ll be terrible. I’m specifically talking about their inability to maintain drives. They’ll score a couple touchdowns, but they’ll probably have a nice drive wiped out by penalties and negative plays, leave points off the board and give the ball back in unfortunate circumstances. The week 1 game was lost by the three and out in the 4th after the Vikings scored. Any semblance of a drive there and they maintain a two score lead much longer, rather than giving up two tds in two minutes. They had a three and out earlier in the game as well.
They went three and out their second drive in Detroit, gave up a TD next drive. Turned over on downs in 4 plays in the 2nd quarter and went three and out the first drive of 3Q.

You can’t do those things against teams with competent QBs facing this impotent Bears defense. Barr minimum you need to get a first down and make the opponent start deep in their end

We'll gradually see this horsefeathers clear up, of course, it'll be very gradual.

It’ll be the same result as it usually is.  There will be some great plays, a few good drives.  At the end of the game the Bears will be in the low to mid 20’s.  Hopefully they’ll get out of the teens.  But I haven’t seen anything yet that says they’re ready to light up the scoreboard.  I think I said 27 in my prediction.  Optimistic.

Dallas will almost surely drop 30-40 points.  Who is going to stop them?  There are so many matchups the Bears will lose on that side of the ball.  Dax finds open receivers.

Caleb has to start being unafraid to hit those receivers breaking out of tight coverage rather than waiting until they have a 10 yard cushion on the nearest defender. Waiting for those extremely open guys is why he's guilty of holding the ball too long on most plays. That's when he will turn the corner in this league. He has the guys who can get open in a hurry and those same guys can do a lot after the catch.

Hell, Caleb is practicing against this same defense that looks so bad on game day. That should be a confidence builder in and of itself.

100%, there's also a some lingering bad habits from last season, Ben Johnson has convince Caleb playing on time, doing as you suggest, IS the big play.  I believe Ben Johnson himself said he didn't expect the offense and Caleb to really start clicking until December.  Pretty much the last quarter or so of season is when I expect we'll see real progress and truly dangerous/good offense.  Will it result in any wins?  Probably not because the last quarter of season December-January looks pretty brutal.  In any case we've got a long wait, a horsefeathers load of more bad times, a horsefeathers load of more bad press ahead of us.  Isn't that great?

Winning NFL head coaches typically gain personnel power as things move along, with the possible exception of the guys who’ve taken Philly to super bowls. It’ll be interesting to see how long the current staff stays intact if/when the offense begins to click but the overall product stays bad. Unless they win fewer than 4 games this year I doubt they make a big chance, but if by next year the defense still sucks but Williams and Johnson are clicking, there’s going to be pressure mounting to do something about personnel.

I assume they would be a little beholden to Johnson’s preferences if it comes to that scenario.  But history suggests they hire a guy who gives Johnson a couple years before firing him and hiring a new defensive minded coach.

Trevon Diggs has been added to the to the injury report as questionable, which is typically a bad sign for playing. Cowboys are already down a man in their defensive backfield with Bland being out for Sunday.

Those are both way more meaningful/worthy Sunday activities than watching this train wreck of a team.

By the time they start clicking on offense, it still won’t equal wins without Jaylon Johnson and the other secondary injuries, and a defensive unit void of young talent thanks to awful drafting and talent evaluation from Ryan Poles. He blew up the roster, couldn’t replenish any lost talent with draft picks and they’re similar to an expansion roster, with one of the most expensive defenses because they’re forced to sign mid level starters on veteran deals because Austin Booker and Reuben Hippolite are the alternatives.

It’s such a mess that’ll take years to fix and hopefully a new GM unless Ben has full roster autonomy and superior talent evaluation.
