Don't jinx it. There's a decent chance that on Aug 25 that Tucker still hasn't played and the Cubs retroactively put him on the Il.

Sigh.  I suppose the less we know about these guys' views the better, if we want to be able to root for them.

If PCA is indeed the new face of the franchise then Matt Shaw will be the heart and soul of this team, a Dustin Pedroia type.

His 9 home runs are more than the 7 combined from PCA Busch Tucker and Seiya since the all star break. He’ll cool off at some point but everything is  flipped upside down.

Encouraging to see wins vs Woodruff and Miz. I still don’t know where the power went but I’m now firmly on board with Busch being an exclusive platoon bat. His struggles coincided with the increase in at bats vs left handed pitchers post all star break.

Lol.  Well Cubs likely did him a solid and hid it from the league for a couple months to help his FA market, but can't hide it anymore.

At least he's not on the IL i guess.  He probably should have rested weeks ago.

doesn't this diagnosis helps reestablish his market? now we have a reason for his slump. he's still getting paid, hopefully by the cubs

shaw already did the trump dance after a triple so this isn't surprising

Shaw and Busch don't even know who that guy is. Book it.

Happ has had a wRC+ of 133 since July 26th. He is fine at #2 in the line up.

Noted, did not feel as though he was doing that well, but glad to see he's starting to tick up.

I like Matt Shaw and Michael Busch enough to be optimistic and believe this.

Am I wrong? Maybe! But this time I'm going with an "ignorance is bliss" take for the time being.

Didn’t Busch single to right in the 8th against a lefty. Had a real nice AB then hit one sharply to right. Just seems a strange time to now be firmly on the side of Busch is definitely a platoon bat. What happened yesterday to have you now make that decision?

He is in the process of silencing the "we traded the wrong prospect" rage from a couple of months ago.   Cams numbers have been regressing for a bit while Matt's are continuing to climb.

Curious if anyone ends up taking a lesson from this

Probably not

He faced a reliever. That’s why. One at bat is different from being placed in the starting lineup. It’s complete speculation on my part but his slump coincided right after those starts vs lefties handed pitchers. Could be a complete coincidence or perhaps it threw off his swing path a bit. I’m not making a firm judgement on this.
