But on the not running to first, there is no inclination on that.  That is inexcusable and there is probably not any other on field action that both disappoints and infuriates me as much as that.

If I compare the odds of getting hurt(or otherwise harming their physical condition) with the odds that sprinting to first makes a difference on a routine ground ball, I have a hard time getting worked up about it.  In almost all cases guys will make some effort until the ball is fielded and then throttle down, which is fine since at that point the odds that running faster makes a difference are functionally zero(you're either out or the ball gets away and you're safe regardless).  Not making any effort out of the box isn't great, but unless it's habitual or symptomatic of a different problem then I don't think it's worth all the angst.

It was a fairly hard hit ball which the first baseman had immediately.  Tucker would have looked like a fool running that all the way out and it would have made zero difference.  I think the booing was for his overall weak hitting lately.  Much ado about nothing.

I was surprised too. Maybe i will bet the Brewers. I will be pissed off that the Cubs lost but happy that my bank account increased

It was because he started slowing down, then the fielder bobbled it, and then he sped up (but way too late). There's a 99.9999% chance he's out by a few steps either way, but he was booed for the optics of the effort

Maybe I saw another miserable ground ball that was going nowhere (there have been so many lately).  On the one I saw yesterday against the Brewers I did not see any bobble.

He also hit a grounder to the right against the Pirates where he never left the batter's box

Right, if this happens in June , nobody even notices because he was hitting well and the team was winning .

Because he's struggling and the team is losing, every little thing  gets magnified more by fans.

You and I disagree on this one sir, and that's o.k. - I do understand what you are saying, but it really doesn't change the way I think of that particular instance.    From what I observed it was much more a pouting, feeling sorry for himself, lack of effort than and I don't want to get hurt lack of effort, which by the way, I don't care much for either, but I realize the business decisions exist...I'll just never care for it.

Missed strike 3 almost cost us a run. Durbin just missed that.

Jordan Baker is one of my least liked umpires.
