This is what has me excited for Horton:

Earlier this season, his four seamer was regularly getting fouled off and he was relying heavily on his offspeed stuff to get swings and misses.

If this keeps up, the sky's the limit.

Good to see Abbot is probably going 7+ today.

Cade has thrown less pitches than he has through 5 innings.

Unfortunately for us, Cade is done after this inning regardless.

I know this is how baseball goes. When you’re team’s offense goes cold scratching even one run across becomes a Herculean task. I’ve been watching baseball for 25 years and this is true of every team.

but GOOD GOLLY MISS MOLLY it doesn’t stop being painful

Horton has been absolutely spectacular of late. Please don't blow it.

Castro producing Gregory Polanco PTSD before he miraculously came up with that catch.

Why Pomeranz here?  EDC much worse from the right side?

Edit: ahh yeah big time.  .921 vs righties vs. .658 vs lefties

I get the need to manage Horton's workload, but let him pitch to Elly.

That's a big enough platoon advantage in the Cubs favor by bringing in the lefty I don't have an issue with it when he was getting pulled after this inning regardless.

Horton finishes the day with a 3.18 ERA. At some point his name has to at least start entering the conversation for ROY. There's no run away leader in the NL.

That was more about the futility of the Reds offense as well today.

So is Cade gonna be at like a 70 pitch limit from now on?

I think it's more of a 3rd time facing batters thing.

Most likely if you want him pitching in the playoffs
