Rough when a pitcher briefly struggling with command doesn't get a strike call when the ball is completely within the strike zone with space to spare

The Z buddies, a new reality show featuring unlikely friends Carlos Zambrano and Ben Zobrist will be debuting on Marquee at the end of this ballgame.

Call it The Buddiez and that’s a guaranteed hit

Don't know how many old timers are here but, does anyone remember Mike Krukow throwing a complete game on 64 pitches?

So he threw a super-duper Maddux?

Maybe I've missed it along the way but anyone have any clue why Cade was striking out guys a bunch in the minors but is averaging like 6 K per 9 in the majors? Better competition? Working on his arsenal/pitch mix differently?

More the latter.  Someone did a breakdown elsewhere, but Horton's current lack of Ks can be attributed to his fastball.  Hitters in the majors seem to be doing a good job of picking up on it and making contact (even if it's foul balls), so it's not really a strikeout pitch despite its velocity as things currently stand.  As a result, he has to play off his fastball with his change (which is devastating) and his breaking pitches (which are still a bit of a work in progress), and if his fastball isn't working super great, everything else falls apart.

I'd be really, really, really curious to see what the PitchF/X has to say about it, but my hunch is he has a bit of Kyle Farnsworth in him, where his fastball does not generate a whole lot of movement and he has to rely on location with it to avoid getting walloped in the zone.

I've just never seen anything like what Dansby is doing this year. He's a actually a really good hitter with no one on, 122 wRC+ then becomes the worst hitter in the league with RISP 35 wRC+. It's completely baffling.

After a certain point it just becomes mental and you start pressing and second guessing on pitches you normally dont.

If he can just group together a few hits in that situation he should fall back into his norm again, at least i think he could

If for some reason the Orioles tie and take the lead, do they keep Rogers out for another inning? I mean like he's cruising lol
