His favorite pizza places in Chicago are Domino's, Papa John's, Jets, and Pizza Hut (if that even exists anymore).

He ordered Chinese instead after learning a 10% tip is included in all dominos delivery orders.

Boob says Alcantara is staying put

I remember going to Greece when I was 9 years old during the school years and family over there had a dog named Booby. When I came back home and went to school, the teacher put me in front of the class to talk about my trip and I mentioned Booby the dog. Well, the entire class and I burst into laughter every time I said Booby.  Now, I am just realising after 33 years that I have a great horsefeathers memory and I still chuckle when I think about Booby.

Never been a big fan of Hoyer but now I am really concerned about him .They are in position to try an win with a star player on an expiring contract and in need of a SP . He goes out and gets Mike horsefeathers Soroka and nothing else .

I mean he couldn’t even get a good rental Don’t give me the prices were to high for rentals horsefeathers .

Cubs are the biggest losers this deadline IMO . Complete failure to do his job . Some will still find a way to defend this garbage I am sure .

I seem to recall 2 WC teams squaring off in the World Series a couple years ago. Let's stop with the oh they have no chance horsefeathers.

The point is though they missed an opportunity to get better or to improve their odds.  If they make it to the WS, it will feel like an accident

Any shot Jaxon Wiggins comes up and helps this season?

Iffy. He's closer to surgery than Horton is, so it's likely he's on a tighter leash.

But.

Not a surprise.

Can’t even count the days like this that we’ve had as Chicago sports fans.

Driving across the country, I open this thread an hour before the trade deadline after hearing the Cubs traded for Castro. As I’m trying to catch up, new pages keep adding to this thread, so I’m thinking they traded for a big starter. Boy was I disappointed.

Boyd

Shota

Taillon

as your top 3 playoff arms seems weak to me. Assuming Horton will need to stop piling up innings. So Soroka, Rea and Assad round out the last two spots/long relief. I’m quite sad they couldn’t get one more solid arm.

Am I one of the few people not *that* upset about this trade deadline? Sure, I wish we could have gotten a top-of-the-line starter....but none of those guys were being moved. Soroka is gonna start, we got a few bullpen arms, and we got a decent bat for the bench and for 3B which we desperately needed.

Maybe I just didn't build my hopes up too much that they were gonna do something huge here. But what they did do shored up the team, and its a very good team thats in a semi-funk.

What four Cubs players are going to be DFA’d or sent to AAA?

Was just coming to discuss this. Between the four acquisitions and Amaya, Assad, and Taillon, they’ll need to clear seven spots total in the coming weeks. Pressly, McGuire, Ballesteros, Brown, Holloway, Kriske, and…?

They graduated 3 top 50 prospects in 12 months and used a bunch of prospect capital to get one of the best hitters in the game.

Who is being outperformed by the guy they gave to the Yankees at the moment. His other trade this offseason is likely to be DFA'd after losing the closer's job.

I understand being disappointed but there are a lot of people in this thread that don't seem to realize this team has the best run differential in baseball and isn't like... scrambling to barely make the playoffs or something.

we're counting on boyd/shota/taillon as a 1-2-3 in the playoffs, IF Boyd somehow makes it all the way there. not getting a playoff SP was huge. also we're trying to win a division and get a bye.

Listen dude if you just want to be mad that they didn't give us the dopamine hit of The Big Trade (tm), just say that instead of making up these increasingly intellectually dishonest caricatures

The top 3 can be Shota, Boyd and Horton- what he's done his last two starts, really three of his last four, he's shown to have a playoff pedigree.

We all know he has to take a break. If he follows Wiggins' ACR path, he'll pitch August 1st and could be back as soon as August 31st or September 6th to finish out the year as a starter.
