Sounds like Brown is coming up to be the bulk guy today, and he's not fully stretched back out.  He's thrown 60ish pitches his two outings at Iowa.

I suspect the plan is Brasier for 1, then Brown for 4ish, then if things are going well switch to the normal short relievers.  If things don't go well during Brown's stint, give it to Flexen to take it to the house.

I think if Brown gets them thru 5, even going well we might see Flexen for 2. Then Keller and if need be, Palencia.

How tf is Brown not stretched out, he was a starting

He *was* starting but a good reason they sent him down was to conserve innings. He didn't pitch for a few weeks and hasn't fully stretched back out. His first start back was just 2 innings.

I don't understand opening a righty reliever for a righty Brown.

Any chance they follow braisher with Theilbar to face Caglione and Frazier and then back to Brown for the bottom of the order and then face the whole order twice?

Tomorrow's opposing SP it sounds like

The last time I saw Rich Hill pitch in person I was still walking to my seats as he was giving up a 1st pitch HR in game 3 of the 2007 NLDS.  I'll be there tomorrow 18 years later, hopefully he does the same thing lol

The bottom half of the Royals' lineup is hot trash, and Brown has had some 3rd time through difficulties this year.  Even if you're not getting the platoon advantage there's value to not letting Witt or Pasquantino see him a 3rd time.

For sure. Still hate it. Would rather call up Little and jettison Roberts even if for one game/series then back to Assad/Taillon or if neither is ready, Wicks or Neely. Its not like Roberts is serving a function, Or just keep Little up. He's killing in Iowa and has even been used as an opener there as of late.

Just to prepare everyone the Brewers have Woodruff going so the Mariners will struggle to even score.

Little has been bad lately. And he isn’t even throwing as hard as before. And, tbh, he shocked even before this. No idea why he gets so much love here. He is the Cubs version of the back up quarterback.

Rich Hill joins the illustrious list of 2 active MLB, NFL, NBA or NHL players that I'm still younger than.  It's Rich Hill and Justin Verlander (and if Jesse Chavez gets signed at some point there will be a 3rd)

YES!  I'm no longer older than every active Major Leaguer.  My MLB dreams live for another day.

PCA not starting today.  Seiya  in CF and Turner at DH.  Wonder if he's banged up.  Odd time to give him a day off right after the ASB.  But it's a LHP, however a reverse-splits guy.

LHP on the mound. Cubs have given some guys days off here. Suspect they want to rest players more moving forward.

Nothing like a bullpen game to kick off a crucial three-game series. This will be fun, I'm sure.

Kudos to this website for allowing us posters to easily cut and paste screen snip images into these forums.  Must save you work with the game threads also.

I agree with them that they need to rest guys more.

You have no idea. @Brock Beauchamp may keep me locked away in a room with one typewriter and 100 monkeys, but at least he's always improving the user experience.

It's quietly the area that will matter the most when it comes to deadline trades.  They have a ton of flexibility when it comes to moving their starters around the diamond, but the bench is trash.

It's why Willi Castro makes a ton of sense, the more I think about it.
