They weren’t coming back anyway , but yeah , Genesis won’t survive in this roster too much longer

The good news is, the Mariners get to save their closer now so he'll be fresh for the rest of the weekend!

Seriously this is wild

1st inning:  Out, Out, Home Run (1 run)

4th inning: Out, Walk, Out, Walk, Single (1 run)

6th inning: Out, Out, Double, HR (2 runs)

7th inning: Out, Out, Single, HR (2 runs)

9th inning: Out, Out, Single, Single, HR (3 runs)

I'm sorry but, if the strike zone didn't shift, the Mariners don't score.  Watch that dipshit call the same pitch a strike in the bottom of the 9th.

Tomorrow wind will be blowing 20-21 straight out . Raleigh may hit 3-4 dongs

That's OK Cubs may hit 8 themselves.

Yeah, that won't continue, Garver and Solano so fearsome, who would have thought?

Huge bullpen let down game.  Easy for me to say this in retrospect but I wish they let Boyd go for the 6th.

And I think all but one hit came with two outs

I’m trying to decide what’s more annoying, this or that Mitch Garver hit 2 home runs today despite having a .569 OPS and 1 HR in 129 PAs coming into today.

People need to understand that gameday threads are for hyperbole and venting

so: today is an inexcusably bad loss and is unforgivable etc etc

and of course I think the cubs are the best team in the league and will win tomorrow

Definitely Garver, throw in that other clown getting two hits and the ball finding his glove for two DP's.  Take comfort in the facts that what happened today for Solano will never happen again and there's a very slim-no chance Garver will hit 2 HR's in another game for the rest of the season.

Me to, they'll win tomorrow, at some point, the fringe garbage bats in the Mariners' lineup will cost them.

I hear you honestly.  I've been on the venting side of things many times and called out by others.  I've somewhat learned to bury the overreactions or at least keep them to myself, but I'm sure I'll do it again at some point.

But I completely understand the primal need to vent in threads like these when things are going poorly.  I've been on message boards for 20+ years, this debate has happened in every single forum I've been on that has game threads.

Apparently Boyd left the game after 5 because he was hurt making that diving catch.  They didn't seem too concerned about it though.

Cabrera needs to have made his last pitch as a Cub.

Think Little is about ready, he's been dominate at Iowa for a while now, have to think he's up to replace Cabrera in near future.

Career 225/308/436 I don't know if that qualifies as really good, he's on heater that much is true.

Since the start of the 2022 season Cal Raleigh ranks ninth among all hitters with an fWAR of 18.3, ahead of Dansby Swanson and Kyle Tucker, among others:

https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&month=0&ind=0&startdate=&enddate=&season1=2022&season=2025

Swanson and Tucker made a combined five All Star appearances over that period while Raleigh made none.

Heading into Friday's game, Raleigh had posted 4.4 fWAR in 72 games this season while Pete Crow-Armstrong had posted 4.1 fWAR in 73 games:

Shame on you for using facts to point out that there are other players having amazing seasons and other good teams on the Cubs message board.

Like I said, I stand corrected, Raleigh is greatest hitting catcher ever, better than Josh Gibson, better than Johnny Bench, Campanella, Berra, etc.  But, seriously, I just took a cursory look, fact is, he's very good.  Will he be able to maintain this pace and continue catching over the long season?
