17 over .500 is a season high, yeah?

Yes.

Previous was 16 games over 500 and that was managed four times. Records of 38-22, 39-23, 40-24 and of course 44-28.

Love it, getting the series opener was key, Cubs will definitely get one of the next two.  I think the bats are starting to awake, it’s coming.  Except for Swanson, he must be moved down, I believe Craig will do it soon.

The Yankees, for all their offensive fire power, have not scored a run in  19 innings vs the Angels.  Shutout over 6 innings by Kyle Hendricks (9 K’s) tonight.

Well, damn. I had forgotten to keep track of Kyle Hendricks for about a week and a half and thought that this was was probably his 100th win as he seemed to be stuck on 99 wins for a while, but he’s actually won three games since I last kept track. This was career win number 102 for him.

If this game was played at Yankee Stadium or the Yankees minor league park (Steinbrenner Field), Tucker would have had 3 HRs today. If the game was played at the Brewers stadium, Tucker would have 2 HRs and Seiya 0.

Wasn't his home run 400+ feet to left/leftcenter? Pretty sure that's going to be a home run everywhere.

horsefeathers I meant Coors. Baseball Savant had that as a HR at every park except Coors. My bad. But yeah that does seem wrong since it’s 415 to dead center and that was nowhere close to dead center.

What could a PCA extension look like and could he be signed for similar to Acuna Jr (8, $100 million)? I am thinking 10/$120 million.

PCA deserves MVP should he not regress. Maybe the baseball writers don't like to give out back to back MVP awards but I have a hard time seeing Ohtani not winning it. Unless he were to get injured

And if Busch goes to first on that first ball they get the out. He didn’t do that bad. The rbi was on a ball hit 68 mph.

That was a terrible throw by Nico.  If he puts that a foot, foot and a half to Busch's left, he makes the catch and it's an out.  Busch was in no man's land but he got to his spot in time and it was just a bad throw.

It hit him in the glove. How is that a bad throw?  He got it to him in the air and to his glove. He lobbed it a little to give Busch time to get back. The throw was a little strange but that is because Busch was out of place. Has Busch just went to first it would have been an easy out.

Go look at the replay.  The throw was to the outfield side of the bag and Busch almost got his arm taken off by the runner trying to make the catch.  That ball needed to be further to his left and if it was, it would have been an out.  I don't disagree with the ruling of it as a hit because it was a very difficult play, but Nico botched the throw.

The ball that bounce off Chourio's glove, then off the ivy/wall and Chourio caught it while in the ball was still in the air (Tucker's 2B, I believe), how is that not an out?

I've seen some Brewers fans complaining it and I am curious about it.

The same reason if you catch a ball that bounces off the green monster it is not an out, the wall is a part of the field of play like the ground is for deciding whether you caught a ball on the fly.

As soon as the ball touches the wall, it's a live ball and "in play". That's true at all 30 parks, which is why the Brewers fans complaining about it is so silly. It would not be a catch at their own park! 😄

Yep, the throw led Busch into the basepath

I am just going to agree to disagree. Busch made a bad play, not Nico. Because Busch was out of position Nico had to try leading him. If he went right to the bag the play is made easily. Even with the throw not being perfect, it was more on Busch than Nico. Had Busch been where he should have been at the proper time he could have adjusted easier. I am not suggesting the throw by Nico was great. I am saying Busch made Nico make a harder throw than he normally would have had to make. And that said, the ball still hit Busch’s glove on a fly. I agree that no error should have been charged, but because of Busch’s original actions it turned into a tough play that normally wouldn’t have to be tough.

It's not a matter of opinion. Nico's throw tailed away from the bag, forcing Busch to stretch towards the 1st base foul line. He short armed it because he didn't want the runner to bowl him over.

Also PCA’s catch had a 5% catch probability

Anyone know what Happ’s catch probability was on the 9th inning double?

Yeah, I got up to go to the fridge thinking that was an out then came back and saw a guy of first and said WTF??  Then the next hit was on a ball well out of the strike zone that was not very well struck.  I can't give the pitcher much blame at all in that sequence - a good argument can be made the run should have been unearned.
