I'm not sure it is? But Brujan did have a little window to touch the bag there; he just overslid it by 6 feet.

It was a bad slide. He reached with the wrong arm.  He slid to the right side of the bag with his right arm extended.  He contacted the bag but his over slide pulled him off...had he reached with his left hand, he could've held on.  OR could've slid straight into the defender and let his body slow him down.

I can't stand Alex. There is ZERO chemistry between him and JD, and it feels like he's forcing his delivery. Maybe with time he'll grow on me, but he seems every bit a subpar fill-in for me.

That said, to each his own!

I agree. Feels very minor league to me who is not ready for a market the size of Chicago.

lol I didn’t even realize this but the Cubs “break” from their rough early season schedule consists of one 3 game series in Pittsburgh before then playing 3 against the Brewers (13-11), 3 against the Giants (15-9) and 3 against the Mets (18-7)

THEN finally we get a reprieve with 21 straight games against teams who are currently under .500

Brewers might be under 500 when we play them. And even if they are not, they are not in the same class as who we have okayed. I know the Giants have a good record, but I don’t consider them that level either. The Mets are very good. Giants average but playing well and Brewers average, IMO.

Seeing the giants in person in SF on Saturday against the rangers. Haven’t seen a game in San Francisco since 2004. Looking forward to it!

IMO Alex needs to be demoted to Iowa permanently.  He's the only guy I switch on The Score for.  I agree he sounds forced and trying too hard.  He just needs to be himself.  He and JD don't feed off each other at all.

He also had no way to grab the bag to try to slow his momentum. Blocking the bag like that with or without the ball shouldn’t be legal.

If it's legal it's bush-league.  That's something that could get a fielder a ball in the booty next time he's at the plate.

Counsell said that Seiya is banned from sliding headfirst because that’s how he keeps hurting his finger and he didn’t sound like he was joking

Good. Love Seiyu and he is too important to this team to get injured doing something stupid like sliding head first into a base.

I'd like to thank the Dodgers again for giving us Anthony Rizzo 2.0 for a future reliever

Forgot about Hope?  He's supposed to be the greatest thing on two feet.

I will trade the 170 wRC in high A for the 170 wRC in MLB every day, personally.

I don't feel that strongly about Alex, but I do switch on the radio cast feed on MLBTV when it's not Boog, just as I did for any of the non-Pat Hughes B teamers. Pat and Ron are just better. And they seem to have fixed any lingering delay issues; the audio and video perfectly line up now.

I listen to Pat and Ron whenever possible. I don't care much for Boog either. When Pat retires or dies, I'm going to be very sad. It's like listening to an old friend.

My favorite part of Pat's broadcasting is that you can tell how genuinely excited he is to get to do that job every day.  When Wrigley really gets roaring and he says "Listen to this Wrigley crowd" the level of excitement in his voice is something you just don't get from other broadcasters in the authentic way he delivers it.

The Brewers have played better than I thought after the Yankees series.  Until we beat them over 162, I’ll always consider them the threat.

Same, they don't seem to go away.  That said their schedule has had some tough games but also quite a few easy ones.  They're 9-4 in the easy games and 4-8 in the tougher games.  Comparatively the Cubs are 3-0 in easy games and 13-10 in tougher games (13-8 in the North America)

I don’t disagree with that either. However, the Brewers talent level is average to slightly above average. Cubs might not beat them, but they should. They are not on par with the NL west teams they have faced.

So Suzuki and Pressley are injured?

My understanding is Suzuki is day-to-day, nothing super serious, more irritating discomfort.  Pressley sounds a little more serious, his, I believe, right knee.

Counsell spoke like he expected him back Friday. He had fluid drained from his knee.

One thing the Brewers have been really great about the last several years is playing the long game.  They don't "chase wins" by using leverage relievers while they're losing close, and they prioritize rest even if it means some suboptimal matchups.

That is something that's not hard to do when you've got a decent lead on a playoff spot.  It will be interesting to see of they have the discipline to maintain that approach if they're 3-5 games back.

Wait wait wait, you’re saying it’s a good thing to not optimize every single playing time decision for every single game?

Gotta use Hodge for the 4th day in a row in a game you're already losing 6-4!
