That statistic they showed about the Diamondbacks scoring 27 runs in the 8th inning is so skewed.  18 of those 27 runs have been scored against the Cubs. Given they're done with the Cubs in the regular season after Sunday, I wouldn't put much stock in them being 8th inning comeback wiz-kids.

The Cubs used 4 players in the #9 spot today.  All of them either third baseman or pinch hitters for third baseman.

That seems... inefficient at best?

Should have made Bregman an actual offer

Was the wind blowing out the whole game or did it shift? Because I thought I heard before the game it was blowing out but Gameday shows an 11 mph wind in from RF.

The catching tandem of Kelly/Amaya is on pace for 219 RBI. That's not too shabby for the 8/9 spot. Everyone else needs to think about picking up their game a bit.

I can't speak for Wrigley, but Chicago in general had heavy wind gusts from all over the place all afternoon and evening long, as well as a gale warning in the evening, so I would not be surprised if the wind direction shifted dramatically throughout the game.

It was blowing out the entire game.

Wondering how many times that happens across the league.  Probably <1 per season.

Slightly less common than that

I know a lot of negative comments were made about the pen, and rightfully so. But I am going to try focusing on the positive that came from pitching yesterday. First, Rea looked very good. And there is some data to suggest he may have changed up some and because of that, there is some hope this could be real. Next, Keller looked good again and was throwing hard. Maybe he enters the circle of trust🤷. Merryweather looked good again. And most of all, Pressly is seemingly rounding into shape. He has had a few solid innings in a row.
And, on top of that, I still like Hodge. If Workman fields a ball he should have had he gets out of the inning allowing a homer to Suarez. He should be fine. As for Wicks and Roberts, both most likely will be back in AAA when Miller and Brasier return. I still like Wicks, but IMO he is a staring pitcher.
