SD is either just that good or we are catching them at the wrong time.  We might just have to take it on the chin and move on.  Hoping for a big win tonight of course.

Randy Vasquez is probably the worst full time SP on a good team in the entire league.  Tonight is about as good as you can possibly feel playing a good team on the road.

PCA went from hitting .197 to .257 over the last 2 games of back to back 3-for-4 nights.  113 wRC+

A lot of slug in those performances too. Mentioned in the other thread, but it's pretty amazing he's looked mostly clueless at the plate up until a couple nights ago, and then just two big offensive performances and he's suddenly 13th in offensive fWAR league wide. Goes to show how much he's contributing beyond at the plate.

One would think Shaw will have a pretty chance to square him up.  I know it’s going to take a while but, it’d be awesome if Shaw at least one big game - that’s allowed right?  About time the Cubs put an end to Padres’ home winning streak.  It’d be especially great if the Cubs got to the Padres BP - this is allowed to, right?

Turner starting everyday makes me miss Seiya so much.

Hopefully back sooner rather than later.

For some reason I kind of enjoy the late games.  Until it gets to the end and I'm needing to get to sleep or stay up until the end and be a little tired the next day.  But I'm typically busy with other stuff earlier in the evening.

I am in Australia, so today’s night game starts at 11:40 AM. Most day games (in Chicago) start at 4:20AM. Pirates on May 1st (2nd, for me) starts at 2:35AM. Brutal? Probably for most people.

I am the crazy horsefeathers who watches 170+ live games a year.

Yeah, I hate it. With the catchers doing well and PCA coming around, I’d rather have just let Shaw try and work it out longer.

Little and Palencia are up. Guessing Morgan to the IL, Pearson to AAA.

Not exactly strike throwers, so hopefully this works out. Can’t be much worse.

His swing and stance suck, idk how you fix that once the season has started but he looked absolutely terrible at the plate.

And once again, 3B is a massive black hole, great.

Yeah, the Shaw thing feels unfair, though I do wonder if this is a quick "up and down" to restore confidence. Hes been rough and hes in his head at this stage. The Cubs face a lot of good arms and teams between now and May 12th. Perhaps he goes to Iowa, smacks it around for a few weeks and then comes back when the opponents get lighter.

Agreed. But maybe this is like the PCA move last year. Get him right at AAA and when he comes back the job is his. Can’t really see much of a chance at production at 3rd with guys like Brujan, Berti, Workman and even Turner playing there.
