anyone else think Tucker isn't exactly setting the world on fire in RF? Feel like he's missed a couple plays tonight, and misplayed a 3rd into a harder catch

I don't think he's a big plus out there, but the awkwardness is mostly down to him having to track laser beams hit directly behind him.  Even though he wasn't far from it, catching that ball from Smith is functionally impossible given the velocity and trajectory.

Patchwork bullpen 7.0 will still be good because Ebenezer O' Hoss was successful in 14 innings last year with a 90th percentile spin rate on his slider, so forget any possible regression at age 59.

John D. Franklin is even younger than O' Hoss and his career includes 5 straight 1.0 WAR seasons with the Red Sox from 2012-2016.  His K rate was a troubling 2% last year,  but a return to form seems possible.

Joe Borowski was spotted in Wrigleyville this week, his 4-seamer can reportedly still touch the upper 70s.

But really,

Thielbar is 38 and had a whip over 1.50

Keller had a 21% BB rate in 45 innings last season and was worth negative half a win for the Royals.

I'm begging you Cubs, give me all the electric arms.  Let the Jack Neelys and Luke Littles fail, at least there is upside.

Well no radar gun during ST games means i had no idea Keller was throwing consistently 96-97mph as he did tonight per Savant.

Taillon sitting 93.  Not all the way back but half an MPH above what he had last year.

Yup i just checked too, he was sitting 93 touching 94 all night.  Last 2 AB's in the 5th he was down to 92 mph.  He averaged 92.3 last year so that's encouraging.

Ran into a lot of lefties tonight and missed some spots in the heart of the plate.  Command is key for him so hopefully he gets into his full groove soon.  Hard to be pinpoint out the gate plus on the road i'd imagine.

On Savant it says Keller's 4-seam averaged 93.8 mph last year and 93.3 in 2023.  2-3 mph bump this year.  He was a part-time SP swingman type though before.  Hopefully the velo and pen change etc helps because he's been trash the last 4 seasons.

This is a good rotation, but to truly contend they’ll have to find a way to get another TORP.

Yeah.  Would be really nice if Brown has a solid season.  Still a shot that Horton comes up in the 2nd half, but not banking on it.   Taillon's a solid #3 or 4 guy.  Boyd has a chance to be solid too.  If Taillon/Boyd both put up around 4.00 ERA's and stay healthy i'm ok with that.  6 earned runs tonight isn't gonna do it.  The season is young, Tailon's velo is up a tick this year.

Most of these pen guys will be gone by June and yes we will see guys that are in Iowa come up throughout the season.

Kind of a typical Jamo game. He either has his A stuff or he doesn’t and it’s evident early.

Go get em tonight.
