I'm just glad there's real don't-have-to-be-up-before-dawn-to-watch-it baseball again. Let's win some games.

I can tell I'm getting older because the 9 pm start annoys me more than the 5 am games did

I feel like we always struggle in Chase, and the Dbacks are a good team, so this weekend could be ugly.  That said none of the individual pitching matchups are that scary and the team didn't have to travel far for this series so I am hoping for a split.

Man, I wish tonight's game started at 9pm for me! horsefeathers EST is the worst for this. Did I strategically ensure that my district benchmark exam is scheduled for Friday? A day in which I only have to proctor an exam instead of entertaining 125 12-14 year olds with an actual lesson?

Yes, if the Cubs start 0-5, 1-4 it could get ugly quick.

The DBacks are a good team, but their lineup is somewhat similar to the Cubs. Good players but not a lot of SLG. However, Suarez always seems to get big hits against the Cubs, no matter who he is playing for.

I'm hoping for a series win here.

Just for fun, here’s the hype video I made for Opening Day 2009.

Come for Carlos Zambrano, stay for Milton Bradley

I'm still very mad at Arizona for derailing the 2023 season.

And now I'm annoyed that they're denying us the chance to beating up on Burnes to start the season for a 3rd time.

And it's 10pm eastern, so I won't last past the 4th inning

I told my partner that I'd be staying up late past our normal bed time, pretending I'll make it to the end of the game. She knows me better than to think I'll make it past the fourth as well.

Didn’t realize today was Opening Day until a friend texted me this morning. I guess I’d heard and talked about the A’s home opener being against the Cubs that I assumed that was Opening Day.

East coast time zone sucks. I am a morning person. Used to live in Chicago area until 2022. Now in Az. As an early person I absolutely love this time zone. Most games are over by 8, instead of 10. So I can wind down after a game and still get to sleep around 10. Baseball is 100% of the time played with a 2 hour time difference. Football is 1 or 2 hours. Still like it. I honestly wouldn’t move to an eastern time zone because of my love for live sports. BTW, going to Sunday’s game.

Hoping for series win, but I would be happy with a split then 2 of 3 in Sacramento. Come home 4-5. That is fine by me.

I used to be a night person, but as I've gotten steadily older, and now owning a cat who's very schedule oriented (breakfast time is 6am every day - she does not understand weekends or summer break) I've become a morning person instead. EST is not good for not-night-people - so I used to love it. Now I hate it.

Enjoy Sunday! That should be a good one. Believe Shota is going for the Cubs!

A major regression from Steele could be a critical hit. I need to see him carve them up and keep pace with Gallen, whom we struggle to touch.

I feel confident in Steele. Arizona has a really good lineup, but over the course of the season, JS should be alright.

Yes, I grew up in the Eastern Time Zone and now live in the Central Time Zone and the hour makes a world of difference. Also an early to bed guy and an early riser. I've always been an early riser/morning person but when I turned 50, I found I suddenly needed more sleep.

It really does! I was the opposite - central to eastern and man, as I round my mid-30's and head towards my 40's, even then it's killing me. I hate when they put the Eagles on MNF or SNF - I can't stay up until 11:30 and then hang out with middle schooler's all that well any more. They're good kids but man they drain the energy haha.

I think Shota is pitching Saturday.
