We'd be scraping Fields' corpse off the field if he was still here. But yeah, it's a nice change and it's even changed from Week 2 down in Houston. Of course, Houston not only had unblocked blitzers, they also had unblocked guys on the front 4, so I'm good with some excuses there, especially considering Caleb's 2nd game and all

Yeah, maybe I"m just being irrationally optimistic and it's just a case of playing teams that can't blitz well, but it sure feels like he learned from the experience and adapted.

I’m more annoyed than ever by the London game and how it’s taken a home game away from us.

The next 4 games are Jacksonville, Washington, Arizona and New England. I think we should go 3-1 during that stretch. Or at least, we should if we want to weather the back half of the season and be In The Hunt the final week of the season for playoffs.

So the blitz thing was actually what I logged in to talk about. The numbers vs the blitz are great. That's on Caleb and Waldron making adjustments. Part of the reason he's only seen 19 blitzes the last 2 weeks is the adjustment to go to the no-huddle. I LOVED the drive in the 2nd half yesterday where the Bears basically went no-huddle with an empty backfield every play and let Caleb throw 6 of 7 plays.

The Panthers weren't capable of doing anything to stop it. But most importantly, the thing the no-huddle does is tire out defenders. Tired defenders naturally don't rush the passer as well when they aren't gassed. The underrated part though is in no-huddle, you are seeing basic defenses. The defense doesn't have time to matchup to personnel changes if there aren't any.

And can really only run basic coverage shells. The DC doesn't have time to call in exotic disguises and blitzes when the offense is back at the LOS, because the LB turns his head to communicate to the rest of the D, and you have a RB running right past him for 10 yards (Bears were empty, but did have Swift in the game). Defenses only have so many things they can check into on the fly as well. And by play 4 or 5, you hear the 3-4 checks for the 2nd time, you know exactly what coverage the defense is in. This also works well in empty sets because the defense can have more checks when the run is a possibility as well.

I'm pretty sure the drive I'm talking about specifically is the FG drive with the Caleb TD run called back. Just a masterful drive, even though it didn't end the way we hoped.

Can we put a moratorium on Fields mentions in the Bears game threads? It’s mind numbing to read this “he would have done this” or “he would not have done this” nonsense. It’s not relevant anymore.

No.  I had to put up with years of being told that I was an idiot/troll/doomer when I said basic football things like "QB is responsible for hot reads and needs to get rid of the ball.". Not to mention a few accusations of racism for daring to doubt fields.

Not done enjoying this yet.

2 things can be true.

Also apparently the Bears got pressure on 20 of 41 dropbacks, which ESPN reports as the highest % of pressures per dropback since it started being recorded.....which is odd because NFL next gen credited the Texans with over 50% pressures vs. the Bears.

I said it would be nice to have a 37-7 laugher, it was just as nice having a 36-10 game. A couple more weeks to get better against lesser opponents will help until they get to the NFC North heavy part of the schedule.

Pretty sure that the Texans game was like 43%.  There was a stat floating on twitter that it was like 42 of 43 plays, but it wasn't, it was 42 total, some plays have more than one pressure.

Still cant believe that all of our divisional games come in the final 8 weeks of the season with the other 2 games being at SF and against Seattle.  We can obviously win those games but they're gonna all be pretty tough

for as much as I would have liked Schmitt, Dexter is having himself a year and a big part of that pressure

Heck yeah, right now, he's better than Jalen Carter and it's not close.  Before the trade for Sweat last season, when he played, Dexter was drawing double teams, I thought that was a good sign of his potential.

Does anybody remember the OTHER DJ Moore that played for the Bears?

Just a random thought that popped into my head after visiting Bleacher Nation.

Yep.  It took me like 2 years into current DJ's career before I didn't think of old DJ Moore first when hearing his name lol

I hated the tone of this video.  He's veering into sheer clickbaiting with his extreme takes, everything is either the stupidest playcall ever or brilliant.

And it's embarrasing for a man who is scraping out a living as a QB coaching specialist to trying get kids into D-III or worse colleges to be describing himself as a "proud dad" to an offensive coordinator in the NFL.

But, all that said, the content of the video was beautiful.  I loved all of it. The fact that the long TD to Moore came off a variation of the screen to Kmet that everyone hated is *chef's kiss*

Tory Taylor is 23rd in punting average, 21st in net average, 22nd in hang time, and 13 guys have kicked a longer one than his longest this season.

There is no such thing as a special punter.

i dont give a horsefeathers how long the longest punt is, I care about how many punts land (and are downed) inside the 10 of the opposing teams side of the field. What are those stats? How is he doing there?

He's 17th in i20%, 17th in touchback percentage.

I count 3 punts that should have been i20s but were left outside, including the shank against the Texans.

When I read your response, I had only seen 15 minutes so I was a little confused about your response.  Watched the rest and the stuff you talked about almost immediately started.  That stuff was very cringey.
