Colorado and Carolina played as the Nordiques and Whalers last night, in full retro jerseys and score bugs referring to those old teams. It was a little confusing at time to watch as even the announcers called those teams by their former names throughout the contest. 
 

It would be cool if the whale still existed

That was a welcomed blast of nostalgia for me. Colorado will also wear the Nordiques throwbacks against the Canadiens, which will be worth tuning in for.

The competitive balance in the east is wild, 

12 different teams in the east have 13 or 14 points. None with fewer. Nobody is under .500 (thanks to the loser point in OT)

the west is more wide open, with 6 teams under .500

but the team with the most points has still skated off the ice disappointed by losing 6 out of 13 games (again, thanks to loser point).

Good to see the classlessness in St. Louis extends from the baseball diamond to the ice. It was hilarious that he claimed he fully intended to give the puck to Ovie. So why not just give it to a referee straightaway then? Why shove it down your pants?

I was firmly in the "Ducks took the wrong guy" camp that draft. I really saw Fantilli as the clear #2.
