Gotta hand it to the pen...****** opponent and some dicey situations they put themselves in but 1 run allowed in 4 IP after Taillon made it a game again and knowing based on past experiences that the Cubs probably arent going to give them much run support.

Can we just fast forward to the part where Neris has the bases loaded with 1 out protecting a 2 run lead in the 9th?

If not for the R in Starlin’s name, that would have been an unfortunate to walk around with.

lmao, I forgot about that post.  This is game number 118, I think we know our Chicago Cubs at this point.

Another winning streak. Just what we needed.

Oh man. Whenever they get on a winning streak they end up losing at some point.

Until two singles and a walk.  Then the White Sox will have the "heart" of their order up with the bags juiced.

Edit: Not sure if you’ll answer seriously but…Hypothetically what would your perspective on Robert be if he was having the same career but under a true rookie deal? Buy low, no?

I'd seriously be worried about the trends. I would take a flier if he was available at the cost of a flier.

Cubs had 16 hits tonight, White Sox had 14 hits. Every Cubs starter had a hit tonight except Wisdom (who was PH for by Busch who ended up getting a hit in his spot). Every White Sox starter had a hit except Robert and Miguel Vargas.

kind of surprising more runs were not scored with that many hits

His full season numbers have him playing at a 3 WAR pace.  If his offense settles in even at around that 3rd row he's a star.

It makes me so happy to have a baserunning menace.  I've wanted one for so long.

It's fun to watch. I think there is value there also that doesn't show up in the stats. JD mentioned it about infielders having to shift towards the base on every false start that he makes, which makes them out of ideal position for balls put in play. There are more passed balls, more wild pitches and the hitter at the plate is going to see more fastballs when PCA gets on base.

Yep. Actually, of the 3rd row numbers the only thing I would like to see better is the OBP. He could hit .242 and slug .424 and be very good. But if he could also learn to take a few walks we would be talking elite.

Yeah for sure, that passed ball last night on the pitch where he faked like he was going to steal is a great example.

He’s never going to have even a “good” BB rate. He is just so aggressive. And pitchers definitely don’t want to walk him and allow him to steal 2nd. As he continues to pound the ball for XBH, the scouting report will evolve and pitchers will get more careful with him. It’ll be up to him to make the necessary adjustment and hopefully take some walks. I’m excited to watch his evolution.

I think PCA can improve on the BB rate a bit as he gets more comfortable in the league, but i agree with you, he's going to typically have a below-average BB rate.

What “trends?”

19.2% -> 28.9% -> 36.0%

Do you need me to draw a graph?
