Even though I was always a Cubs fan Julio Franco was my favorite player growing up.  I just loved the batting stance, it was big for me when he won AS MVP at Wrigley in 1990.

DLee, Aramis, Rizzo and Javy have been the favorites since then.

Anybody who can play in mlb into their late 40s deserves high praise. He's a hero for sure.

God, I loved that man.

Javy was the first prospect I ever fell for. I remember him smashing a spring training homer well over 400 feet to dead center and thinking he was the Cubs best power hitter right then and there. I'll always be attached to him.

I saw him in Peoria in 2013.  He was far and away the best player on the team and not only made several ridiculous plays at SS, but he hit a solo HR to win the game 1-0 for the chiefs.

Didn't Baez, Bryant, and Soler go back to back to back in a Triple A game with absolute moonshoots to LF?

I will die on the hill that this is the greatest play ever in baseball.  Primarily because Javi manifests it from a Statcast out certainty of 1000%.  I'd argue you re-run this play, from the point the 1b catches the ball, and sub in every single player who has ever played MLB baseball and in each and every instance I'd bet an out is made.   Everyone jumps to blame the 1B but I maintain the catcher is as much to blame.  Javi has nowhere to go. If the catcher doesn't call for the ball Javi is out because he will have stepped back into the batters box. Once the catcher gets the ball he can just tag Javi - and again it's over - but for some reason he tries to tag Willie and then Javi realizes there's no-one between him and first.  And yes I'm sure there would have been other 1b that would have just turned around and tagged the bag...but again Javi has nowhere to go.  I'm predicating the catcher blame at least a little bit on my assumption that the catcher should be the smartest player in the infield.  For his era of playing Javi is my favorite hands down.

I mean I know the answer is the wind, but it’s still amazing that ball only got to the basket.

That ball looked like it had an EV of about 140 coming off the bat.

I would have been less surprised if it hit a building across the road than I was that it landed in the basket.

who is your favorite player and why is he your favorite player?

Justin Steele, I think he maxes out on his ability more than anyone on the team.

PCA. I've always been a sucker for elite defensive CFers.

When I was a kid, it was Jody Davis.  I was fascinated with catchers and the special equipment they got to wear.

All-time, I think it's gotta be Sosa.

My all time favorite Cub is Kerry Wood. Dude pitched the greatest game ever, and also homered in the 2003 NLCS game 7.

I have a generational love for different players.

Grade School: Andre Dawson.

Middle/High School: Sammy Sosa.

College: Aramis Ramirez

Adulthood: Anthony Rizzo

Currently: High hopes for PCA, as he stole my heart with that clip of him pimping a dong off someone in the minors after having been thrown at.

Aramis might be my favorite of all time though.  He was just so consistent at a position we were never good at in my lifetime and was sneakily one of the best 3B in the game and his defense got better as he got older which people don't give him enough credit for.  He wasn't going to win a GG or anything, but compared to where he was when he first arrived it was night and day.

My favorite stat was that during his peak, no other active 3B in MLB had four consecutive seasons of a .900 OPS or higher, only Ramirez did.  Not even A-Rod had that, and MLB was STACKED with juiced up 3B at the time.  And horsefeathers the racist Chicago media for villainizing him and calling him lazy and saying he only hit home runs when they didn't matter.

This is still arguably Top 3 Cubs home run of my lifetime

Watching in real time it seemed like the ball was in the air forever.

I was there! That was one of the greatest moments of my entire life.

Sosa and Wood are personally my favorite Cubs because they're the reasons I started watching sports in the first place, but A-Ram is a very close third.

I actually became a fan of Aramis when he was still with the Pirates. I had a pretty heated debate once with another fan over who the better 3rd basemen was at the time, Aramis or Tony Batista. The day that we traded for him is one of the most memorable days that I have ever had as a Cubs fan. I was beating the drum for him being exactly what the Cubs needed, but given his age and talent, I never dreamed Pittsburgh would part with him. Woke up on July 23, 2003 and logged onto the computer to see the news. I was absolutely floored, like I had somehow spoke it into existence. From that day until he left he was my favorite Cub and second only to Dawson as my all-time favorite.
