I wonder if it's too late to put Spencer Knight on a plane to Italy to be the backup USA goalie, because Swayman has let in two goals that an inflatable arm flailing tube man would have stopped.

I don’t know why, but I enjoy the winter games much more than the summer games outside of figure skating.

I know this may sound corny, but I really love the Winter Olympics.  I think the main reason why is because of 1980. I was a young teen then. Eric Heiden and the Miracle on Ice were so big.  The USA beating the Soviets is still the greatest sporting event of my life. Bigger then 2016. I dont want to be that old guy, but if you didnt live it you probably will never know just how awesome it was. USA does not dominate winter sports. So our successes seem so much bigger.

Very much remember Eric Hieden performance, it was simply, awesome.  Watched every bit of him on the ice.  Then, of course beating the Russians, most especially, during heighten Cold War tensions.  The USA' victory was akin to a kick in the balls, to me, it was payback for 1972 Olympic basketball.

Good to see Hellebuyck in goal today, Swayman was awful yesterday.  Don't see a reason Swayman should see any more ice going forward.

Wrong sport but, same context, I've seen a garbage can make better saves in lacrosse than Swayman last night.

Yeah how do you let that goal in from near center ice? Other than not paying attention?

Also, USA will probably play Sweden in the quarters,  that could be a tough match up.

I'm right there with you.  I think largely it is the fact that the Summer Olympics are so track and field based, and I just don't get excited about watching people run around a track.  Now, skating around a track at high speed with the constant risk of wiping out and crashing into the wall, I'm in for that!  And then there is curling, which the Summer Olympics has no answer for.

I prefer the gymnastics side of the Summer games. I think skiing is boring, mostly because it's "person vs. the clock". It would be more exciting if they were racing each other in real time.

They do have ski cross (and snowboard cross) if you're looking for that rush. Snowboard cross already happened and looks like it got ignored, probably because the US didn't have anyone do well in it, but ski cross is still to come.

Come 2028, I think many here will enjoy the lacrosse 6's format to be employed by the Olympics, fast, constant action, lots of scoring.  And, I'll save you the suspense, the Gold Medal game will most likely be USA vs. Canada.

I enjoy skiing.  It’s also person vs the course.  And by extension person vs conditions.  I love ski jumping too.

I just compare it to, say, swimming, which is thrilling because it's PvP not PvC

How dare you not include flag football, coming soon to an Olympics near you.
