That's the number of hits the Cubs have in their past 8 games (which includes a game of only 5 hits).

43

That's the runs they've scored in their last 8 games (including being shutout once), an average of almost 5 1/2 runs per game.

13

The number of runs the pitching staff has allowed, which includes 7 in one game. That's just over 1 1/2 runs per game.

And all that leads to a record in their last 8 of:

7-1

Cubs run differential went from -30 something to -1 in like a week

Can Kyle just pitch against terrible offensive teams?

The Giants and Cardinals are a hell of a lot better than the Angels.

I think the glass half full on Kyle is that his time in the bullpen did actually fix him.  The blowup against the Brewers was a run of the mill bad start and last Saturday shouldn't have been allowed to happen health-wise.

There isn't a perfect correlation with his performances, but I strongly suspect that rest/recovery is a differentiator here.  I kinda wonder if they went to a 6 man for a minute with him pitching on 5-7 days rest all the time if he'd be much different than what we could reasonably expect from Wicks, or even Assad if you're bearish on him.

Ton of off days coming up, I think there's more opportunity to pull something like this than there was in April and May.  Shota could certainly use it as could the kids as they come off the IL.

Yea. I'm still waiting for someone to pinch me awake. Hendricks amazing. And we have an offense!

Hopefully the run differential isn’t back to -30 over these next 3 games. Not looking good so far.
