credit to the people still watching this garbage, I can't.  I have been watching since 1982 and have seen a lot of bad Cubs baseball over the years, but I can't do it this year.

I'm still going to peek at what's going.

Because I'm sure something will pique my interest.

But I feel I've reached the peak of my tolerance for this crapolla.

Just a random thought and not worthy of a separate thread:

We are quickly approaching the anniversary of the PSD castration. I'd be curious to find out how many new members have joined NSBB within the last year? I know, I'm dull.

Wasting good starting pitching is the most painful thing to see in baseball because the nature of pitching greatness is so ephemeral - you never know when you get lightning in a bottle and when it's going to end. Watching a team unable to score runs for tremendous pitching is a crime, a sin, against baseball. And they are being punished for their wanton, wicked ways by the baseball gods.

Which reliever will blow up the game tonight? I feel like Lieter Jr is due for a good 3 ER outing in the 8th.

At this stage the closer for each day might as well be whichever starter is throwing in 4 or 5 days.

Why is Amaya even on the team still?

I think the answer is fairly obvious. The first is that despite how rough he's been offensively he's still been better than the alternative, Yan Gomes in 2024. His 59 wRC+ is double that of Gomes' 21.

The second is that there are only two catchers currently on the Cubs' 40 man roster, Miguel Amaya and Yan Gomes. There is no one to replace him with.

The Cubs would likely replace Gomes over Amaya so the only way he'd not be on our roster is in the event of injury or the Cubs acquiring two new catching options.

Probably because they don't have any other catchers on the 40 man roster. I had high hopes for Miglet. Hopefully, his defense comes around.

Jorge Lopez. What's the story with this guy? DFA'd by the Mets. Now the Cubs have him on a minor league deal.

Edit: Now I remember him. He's the guy who trashed his team. I doubt that he has learned his lesson so soon. I fear that he'll be a cancer that they don't need.

When was the last time this team blew someone out? It seems last year the offense had tons of 10+ run games. 10 might not be enough with our bullpen though 😆

I am now even less confident they can score runs off Civale in the next 4-5 innings. They needed to do damage in that inning.

UMFan posted yesterday that the Cubs have won by more than 2 in a 9 inning game twice in the last 40 games.
