  1. Munoz didn't give up the home run, Bazardo did. He should have put Munoz in at that time though.
  2. Jed messed up by backing out on the Luzardo deal in the off season. That would have changed everything. Even though he was scared off because of the medicals, he still should have done what he could to find somebody else of that caliber.
  3. I get why Counsell went with Boyd, it just didn't work out. This falls more on Jed to me. He should have gotten another starter in the off season. They should have completed the deal to get Luzardo, or even gotten someone else.
  4. I wonder at this point if he is considering taking the qualify offer the Cubs will give him. He might be better off taking that, and building himself back up and hit free agency next year. I doubt he will, but I am sure he is thinking of it.
  5. Exactly. As disappointing as the Cubs have been playing, the Reds would still have to go on a Brewers type streak against tough teams to pass them. The Cubs will get in, and then get swept in the playoffs.
  6. They are pretty good, the Cubs are good too though. They are just in a slump. The Reds have one of the hardest schedules in baseball left. It won't be easy. If the Cubs just go 500 the rest of the way, they will get in.
  7. Nah, they will still make it. Who else is going to? The Mets aren't playing well either and I don't see the Reds passing both. They have a tough schedule as well.
  8. I think they sign Finnigan. That is a Cub signing. He will be cheaper than some of the other options.
  9. The problem is, you are viewing it as a team will spend more on players to increase payroll. Let's use this example. Let's say the Marlins need to spend another 30 million to meet the minimum. Instead of spending in FA, they could just trade for a bad contract. They could add someone like Bellinger and they are at their limit. Moves like that won't improve FA, and that is what several teams will do. They will just absorb bad contracts and not spend to get better.
  10. Apparently you forgot who owns the Sox and their team rule of not giving a pitcher more than a four year contract. So, they have no reason to keep him. They aren't going to compete in the next two years, and there is no way he would sign a four year deal unless he gets injured. It makes perfect sense for them to trade him.
  11. Cano. Seattle way overpaid though. I don't see them losing Soto though, and it will be at least 500.
  12. I would say Kevin Gregg. He was the worst.
  13. I can see why they took Smyly out. He was pitching too well.
  14. credit to the people still watching this garbage, I can't. I have been watching since 1982 and have seen a lot of bad Cubs baseball over the years, but I can't do it this year.
  15. Their minor leagues are doing well. The major league roster is awful, but Jed has spent the way Tom likes and he does like that he has built up the farm which is what he really wanted. I don't think he goes anywhere unfortunately.
  16. Why wouldn't you lose interest now? I don't know how some of you can watch this every day. I gave up a few weeks ago and just check out the box score after the fact in amazement. Saves a lot of stress that way.
  17. I will never understand why they let go of Estrada. He was not good last year, but to just let him go was ridiculous. I didn't get it at the time either.
  18. The only teams that would trade for him are contending teams. The Cubs are a contending team and we want him gone. Do you really think a good team will pay him 20 million a year for the next two years? I don't. There are better options available for cheaper.
  19. Is Happ even tradable? He isn't very good right now, and he 2/40 left. I think the Cubs would have to eat quite a bit.
