I wouldn't be surprise if they were bottom 5-10 in hitting for every starting position in MLB C, 1B, 2B, etc.....

They are half a game out of a wild card spot.

That's a horrible reason to swing at a pitch you won't do damage on.

They are Bottom 10 in MLB in wRC+ at 3 positions, Top 10 in MLB at 3 positions, and therefore Middle 10 in MLB at 3 positions.

Baserunners are now 32/37 stealing bases vs Amaya. This is a huge weakness of the team. Any walk or measly single almost guarantees a runner at 2nd. Now Leiter feels pressure and throws a wild pitch.

The shadows couldn't be in a tougher spot right now, so Amaya (and Leiter) letting this guy go from first to third after an infield single is really annoying

Before anyone says "luck". Leiter didn't bother holding him on, then Amaya could not block a ball. It's bad play, not luck

Can Amaya get assigned this L? Or Counsell?  No reason for Leiter to have been in there today.  This is 3 days out of 4 and 4 days out of 6.  Miller, Smyly, and Hodge are all fresh.  Or even try to squeeze another inning out of Taillon.

Because our SP are the only part of the team that is working right now and bringing in a new catcher with no experience catching for those starters might affect that.  They should absolutely be figuring out a solution to their massive catching issues but I'm not sure sending Amaya to Iowa and making the catching situation Gomes (a worse hitter and catcher) and a new guy is the best way to address it.
