Bears have one more game before the bye, and one more opportunity to get a win in primetime following a late collapse blown lead. Chicago is getting 3.5 points against a competent team that is coming off its own late game collapse out west. This one is a lot more winnable for the bears, although they shat the bed against them last month. Minnesota’s D doesn’t do anything particularly well, they are fair to middling. This is one of those, playing well isn’t good enough games for Fields. He needs to have a very good game if he wants to build on what remaining goodwill he has with the organization.

The defense has to figure out a way to not collapse against a team that throws the ball a lot and gains a lot of yards.

After this game and the bye, the bears have two more likely losses on the schedule until the arizona game on Christmas Eve.

Posted in the Lions thread about seeing if Fields learned anything from the last game against the Vikings.  I'm certain they're going to come after him with reckless abandon, if Fields can be remotely competent at recognizing the blitz.  He should be able to easily exploit the holes the Vikings are going leave and have a big day.

This is the kind of defense Fields has historically struggled against. It will be interesting to see if he has improved against what will be non stop blitzing Viking defense.

I herad somewhere that the Vikings have been bringing everyone or dropping everyone. It will be a good challenge for a Fields to read what the defense is doing and make the right call. He's got to be ready with the hot read against the blitz - I saw him do this at least once against the Lions, completing a pass over the middle to Moore - but also aware enough to identify when everyone drops out and scan the field. If the line can hold up against 4 man pressure he might have a chance.

If the Bears can flip the script on them and bring pressure against Dobbs they'll generate several turnovers.  Say what you about Fields but, Dobbs is worse by a significant margin.

Something tells me Dobbs will be able to avoid this ferocious bears pass rush even if only by the hair of his chinny chin chin.

Lose out and clean house plz and ty

Yes, that'll give us the 1 and 3. The Panthers aren't winning horsefeathers. The Patriots probably get the 2. I love the idea of adding MHJ and Fashanu around Fields.

Probably, however, this one game where the Bears should be blitz heavy, which they won't.  They'll just sit back in their
passive zone, with little to no QB pressure, allowing easy completions, making Dobbs look good.

Or, hear me out, we could try to get a good QB instead

Bears are one of the worst in turnover margin (-6), and rank out really low in both giveaways and takeaways.  They just don't cause enough chaos.  I would love to see a lot of turnovers but it hasn't been the D's forte.  I know they did much more on Sunday but it wasn't typical at all.

I know, just saying if they could manage some chaos this game, the turnovers will come.

I've said this before, but in the scenario you are able to get MHJ and Fashanu, outside of a acquiring a center, you could literally spend all other draft picks and all FA money on the defense. The RB/WR/TE/Oline would all be solid or better.

I obviously understood the logic of not going QB last year and trading it.  I can somewhat understand the logic of not going QB this year in a vacuum.  But hard to swallow having the number 1 pick in back-to-back years and leaving that situation with your QB of the present and future being a 4th year guy that you still aren't entirely sure is going to be good.

you know that's what they are going to do though.

whats worse, going into the 4th year with a qb you arent 100% about or going into year 3 with an entire coaching staff you arent even 25% sure of?

I mean, we get both!

I have zero questions about what I would do with the coaching staff.

I kind of go into the last 6 games like this. I know Fields is going to get decimated by CLE, they're incredibly good on defense, and I fully expect him to put up numbers on ARI. It's what happens in the DET/MIN/GB/ATL games that interests me. He'll be facing the following

YPG Allowed

MIN: 323.3 (13th)

DET: 313 (9th)

CLE: 243.3 (1st)

ARI: 349.5 (24th)

ATL: 308.8 (7th)

GB: 327.9 (17th)

Fields has to play Flus proof ball. Like settling for FGs does nothing. Of course, play calling for an inside zone on 3rd and 7, is BS, just check out of that horsefeathers and throw it to DJ. F these coaches, they don't have a future in the league, you maybe do.

I think I said this in the other thread, but it's amazing how all the mistakes seemed to come back with Justin in there instead of Bagent. Late getting out of the huddle stuff. WRs not knowing where to line up a couple plays. The deep ball incompletion to DJ, Mooney was running to the same spot before he stopped seeing DJ closer to it. The stuff with the backup C. Tyler Scott slowing down on a pass that would have hit him in stride. Not blaming Fields for this stuff, but I wonder if the other players kinda of let off the gas a little knowing that they don't have to carry a limited ability QB anymore.
