So what you are saying is you don’t want him. They aren’t getting him for a terrible prospect.
BTW, what do you think he is worth? Why is money so important if they are only going to have him for one year? If he is healthy he is a very good pitcher. And a type they don’t have now. Someone who misses bats. What does he have to do to be “worth $25M?

He averages 66IP in his career. He's an injury waiting to happen.

That fine. I understand people not wanting him. And they aren’t going to get him for a terrible prospect.

Speaking of Morel, did you notice he played 3rd in the DR the other day. Wonder if the Cubs told them to play him there? Until the Cubs close the door on him at 3rd I am not giving up the hope they play him there.

I have a feeling theyre going to use Morel in a trade, and him playing multiple positions in the DR is just showing how versatile he can be to ho along with his bat.

There more mentions of him playing 1B or 3B then possibly being traded

Cubs are now looking to trade for Beiber

Is that a new report or the same one this morning about Beiber and Glasnow?

Posted (edited)

I can’t find anything new on Beiber outside this mornings report. Did see this -

Unless the Cubs feel Keegan needs a COS, I'd prefer for the org to hold onto Thompson. .

Keegan Thompson is fine, but probably won't be counted on much from the Cubs point of view if things go well. You've got guys like Horton and Brown who will be more likely to start. Already have Wesneski/Asad/Smyly as multi-inning relievers. Injuries will happen, and he'd probably see innings, but he's likely going to be left on the outside moreso than the inside. He'll also be 29. Not suggesting he's toasted at that age, just that if the Cubs take take a 29 year old multi-inning guy that isn't likely for opening day roster duty and it helps turn into Tyler Glasnow (regardless of how much of a glass cannon he is), that's W in my book.

As per usual, you're right but I was hoping Keegan could bounce back to becoming a key member of the bullpen.

Oh for sure. There's some good stuff for Keegan. I really would like to see him get back to being useful. And it's possible! I just wouldn't let him stop me from Glasnow if we can!

Just 2-3 hours worth of a discussion in 2 separate threads and links that have already been posted....

Long chat about it in the Glasnow thread. It stems from Morosi’s tweet this morning. You probably haven’t looked in that thread though. Worth checking out

I knew Glasnow was being talked about for awhile,  I just saw the Beiber mention on twitter and why in my OP I just mentioned Beiber. But no I haven't looked at all the other threads

I'd take him sure, he's really good when not injured, but I wouldn't overpay for him.  Why give up a young SP for him when there's numerous quality SP on the FA market that will not cost one of our young pitchers that we'll need this season?

If he could throw about 140 IP next season I think he'd be worth the 25m salary because of the quality of his innings, but that would be a career high for him.

If the Rays want us to take on his whole salary I'm not giving them anything more than a meh prospect outside our Top 30 we won't miss.

I can also remember posting on some other baseball message board back around 2001, and when the 9/11 attacks happened one of the regular posters there worked in the WTC and died in the attacks.

We might be thinking of the same guy, he was on a baseball message board but also was on a Vegas message board. If this is the same guy you are thinking of he posted he was in the South tower when the North tower was hit and never heard from him again

One thing that's been pretty true of the Hoyer era is that he operates pretty stealthily.

There are, of course, times when the fit is just so obvious that everybody assumes it'll come together (Bellinger last year). But I wouldn't necessarily expect to get much lead time before finding out something has actually happened.
