Wisdom, really?  What's the over under on the number of pitches it'll take for him to K?  I'm going with 5.

In your opinion(s), has this season culminated into a choke job by the Cubs; or, have they performed according to or above your expectations?

I mean this is just dark. Playing game 160 while still technically alive and people are calling for them to basically concede the season to give PCA and canario 8 at bats.

My preseason prediction was 84 wins, so this is about what I expected in the macro.  It's a very frustrating way to get to that type of total, but I'm not gonna gnash my teeth over it considering I didn't expect them to be a playoff team and the way the individual performances have added up doesn't make me bearish on their ability to continue to improve next year.

It's over whether they concede it or not. But I agree that Ross is going to keep managing like they have a chance until they absolutely don't, and I can't fault him for that.

Morel playing well tonight. Good thing Rossy got Mastroboner in the last 2 games instead of Morel.

"Ross hates Morel and loves Mastrobuoni" is an incredible bit to try to pull off, I respect the audacity of it

It can be both. I'm pretty sure I said I expected them to be around or slightly above .500, so they pretty much met my expectations overall.  But given where they were a few weeks ago, my expectations were recalibrated and then severely underperformed.

I'm glad that you can remain rational during games but others cant, its a coping mechanism.

I'm gonna keep it going the next 2 games, Ross is bound to do more stupid things involving the boner.

It can be both. 82-85 wins would be seen as what the Cubs could have achieved this year. But being half a game out of the third wildcard spot, while possibly losing four in a row and could rise 6 in a row to finish the year is a choke. Losing 6 games this month to the D’Backs doesn’t happen.

We can only hope that it doesn't feed his vendetta against Morel who (checks notes) has over 400 PA despite not getting called up til May, having cold spells where he looks like a little leaguer, and generally has played defense like a QWOP character this year

Not directed at squally at all, but it reminds me of a guy in the bleachers several years ago. The Cubs were losing badly and all throughout the game he kept saying "loooooooootta baseball left!" all the way to to the 8th inning or so. I can still hear his voice and it still makes me laugh in situations like this.

Eh. I’m just coping too. Having been a fan of this team my whole life I’d never even dream of going on one of those ‘last wild card to the world series’ runs. It was going to end at some point. They gave us like, what, 50 games to be emotionally invested in? I’m not going to be super mad that it wasn’t 60. But you’ve got people in here who seem like they would call for PCA and canario in game 4 of the NLCS if we were down 3-0.

Yes baby! 3-3 ball game.

I am stuck watching the Brewers feed and all they’ve shown since this rookie came in is his family and friends in attendance. Let’s see if the Brewers feed shows them as much now lol

It seems way too perfectly baseball for the Marlins to have to clinch the playoff berth by finishing that stupid game in New York on Monday, so this seems about right
