That's ok, we've got some guys on the verge of call-ups.  None of them are performing particularly well in AAA, but they're there and that's what's exciting.

Pretty sure it's just a straight up player option. They need to put him in the bullpen. Might piss him off enough to opt out lol

Nah its a mutual option but the Cubs pay a $2.5m buyout if they opt out of the deal.

He broke his hamate (iirc) bone while playing at Iowa. He never really had the same kind of power after that.

Oh yeah i think I was confused by the wording. Next year is his player option. And the season after that see he has a mutual option.

As good as the Bellinger and Swanson additions have been, all the suckage he added to the roster are what define his off-season for me. Smyly, Barnhart, Mancini, Hosmer, Rios, Taillon (even though he’s kinda been not so terrible lately). So much dead weight occupying roster spots and actively hurting the team to start the year.

To be fair to Smyly, he had like a 3.60 ERA through April and May, which was perfectly fine in the middle of the rotation.  But yeah he's been rough to watch the past couple months.
