I do find it interesting that Angels manager Ron Washington said he doesnt want to say anything because he doesn't want to "let the cat out of the bag".  But could just be trolling

Could simply be because teams are told they aren't allowed to talk about their meetings.

I’m not hedging and I don’t want to sound like sour grapes. If the get him, great. If the don’t that’s ok too. I want holes filled with the best available. SP, LHH power, power in general, leverage relief.

go get them.

So the leads for all the teams that are in on Ohtani are conspicuously missing from Nashville, and it's been more or less confirmed he was in San Fran over the weekend?  So are things basically just 2-3 days behind where we thought they were going to be on Thursday/Friday because people didn't account for the SFG meeting?

Not even sure why I'm posting this as I think this more or less reading the tea leaves of things that have been said today, but he does say the buzz seems to be that the Cubs are fading.  Who knows lol

Watch, after all this, we're going to find out 2 months from now that the Cubs's interest was nothing more than an inquiry phone call and they never even made an offer.

This article has a lot of nothing on it. Ignore the headline and here's the only thing they show as to why the Cubs are "fading": "MLB Network insider Jon Morosi didn't even mention the Cubs during a segment discussing Ohtani's next home." Then it spends 95% of the article talking about Glasnow, Bellinger, Morel, and Yamamoto.

I don't want to sound dismissive of things that eliminate the Cubs, but I think we have to all take a step back and remember what Olney said today: no one knows anything right now. Jon Morosi doesn't know. Bob Nightengale doesn't know. I'm confident Jeff Passan and Ken Rosenthal don't know. I don't think any team is fading in any knowing way right now. I do think reporters are guessing, and the easy guess is the Dodgers. Outside of guessing though, I don't think there's any evidence as to who's in the lead or who's faded.

I remain optimistic that the Cubs are putting forth a big offer and have. They don't get here without it. Jed Hoyer isn't even in Nashville right now because he's (presumably) in LA. Sharma posted yesterday he once thought the Cubs would be outbid by someone but now, he's not so sure (meaning there's belief by him that the Cubs will outbid everyone. How much of that is tea leaf reading or not, be my guest). And none of this should be addressed at you, just kind of talking out loud. I have no idea if they'll get Ohtani, but I'm just not sure anyone has any idea of who's really trending anywhere right now. Hell, it looked right before the Cubs signed Suzuki in a similar courting fashion that the Cubs were no where near that one. That the Cubs aren't getting the headlines might be a good thing.

If they don’t get Ohtani and Rogers is right about them not having interest in Soto , I have no idea how they will build an offense . Rhys Hoskins isn’t near enough

The vibe has definitely been moving away from us the last week or so. Which I’m fine with. But if Jed knows this now is the time to get moving on other things. Call on Soto. For the love of god, call on Soto.

Zero interest in Soto based on the current asking price. They'd have to cut it in like half.

I don’t believe this. I believe Jed is all in on Ohtani. If they don’t get him it will not be for lack of effort or a proper proposal.

One year of Soto for probably 2 top 100 prospects + more? No, thanks.

This was the rumored ask from the Yankees and did not include 2 other unnamed prospects

Not sure how you could read Carter’s quotes tonight and think they’re going after Chapman.

The one about not blocking prospects? Who do they have coming up at 3B? Shaw the kid with 70 abs in AA?

What’s a Glasnow/Paredes package look like if we truly do miss on all the top options? Would it be too much with all the “under the hood” concerns Paredes has?
