Does Dansby Swanson and Craig Counsell help Ohtani put on uniform 17 at the cubs press conference?

He can hit and pitch but can't put on his own jersey - don't need this clown!

For clarity's sake:

From multiple sources (two Toronto based, Passan and Gonzalez) he has not made a decision. It would be weird if he hadn't made a choice, but took a flight to Toronto. It wasn't that "a decision was unknown" but a definitive "not".

The "dinner reservations" was tweeted by an opera singer in Toronto who's been tweeting incessantly about Ohtani for days now and has under 1K followers. None of whom had any connection to being a legitimate sports reporter.

I don't think that is his plane. I don't think that the dinner reservations are accurate. I think the first is a coincidence and the second someone pretending to know things. That doesn't mean I think any less of the smoke blowing; it certainly seems like right now Toronto is likely the choice ultimately. Only that I think these other two things are not useful in helping us make that determination.

That would be cool if we could sign the best Japanese players and develop a reputation for helping ease the transition for Japanese players coming over to hopefully team friendly deals.

Maybe he's flying to each city to tell them in person that they did not win.  Solid move!  The last city is his new team!

Never mind, I see this idea was already posted.  Sorry!!!

Yes, but how do we know he isn't just really good friends with Tucker Barnhart and is accompanying Tucker on a free agent visit to Toronto?

Damn. We never should have let that legend go!

It really was him.

This is presumably going to be the physical, not sure if anything else needs to be done?  Have to assume we have details by at absolute latest lunchtime tomorrow.

Obviously have to wait and see how this all plays out. But I have ZERO faith in Jed to make the 2024 cubs better than the 2023 cubs. I think we’re in for one terribly disappointing offseason.

Yeah, I think tonight we’ll get the contract details to be honest. This has slowly been leaking out all day.

I think he'll make the 2024 cubs better quite easily. I think you need a break

Shame he's going to the Blue Jays. Gonna be the same situation he had with the Angels.

Toronto must have offered him an obscene amount of money and blew everyone out of the water.

I don’t need a “break” at all. I’m fine. Not even upset. I don’t trust him to do whats necessary. You might. Hopefully you’re right and I’m wrong. But it’s entirely possible (if not probable) he plays in the third tier of player acquisitions and were mediocre again.

Maybe he’s just going to tour the stadium or whatever?

I’d assume this is done. He’s already met with them and (allegedly) toured their spring training facility. There’s been a lot of writing on the wall too that this is the outcome.

by pretty much every indication, the cubs are going to the luxury tax or above it. which means they're adding a ton this offseason. we have every logical reason to believe this. you're just pouting.

Not really. Toronto has more playoff appearances the last two years as LA has in the last 14. Toronto won 89+ games each of the last 3 seasons. The last time LA did that was 07-09.
