Turns out I don't know how to embed tweets anymore.

It wasn't working for me earlier. That's why I just copied the text from the post.

I think if you swap Twitter in for X in the URL that should consistently do it, if that doesn't help you can also eliminate everything in the URL after the question mark(including the question mark).

Make sure you go to a new line after pasting a tweet, and wait for the embed to appear before posting.  It usually works for me after that.

Lol dodgers if they don’t get him

On the other hand Jays fans are been extremely annoying and making fun of Cubs fans , so I don’t like he chose them . Would have like it if he had stayed in Ana .

Toronto fans are sneakily annoying as hell.  You kind of forget they exist until something good happens and then they become obnoxious.  It gives me so much joy that their beloved hockey team is a punchline for its inability to win a Stanley Cup.

Btw the Blue Jays possibly trading Bichette or Vlad before FA and playing on one of the last hard surfaces in the league, I couldn’t be less worried about Ohtani signing with them. I don’t even see the threat here. To use the most current slang among the yooths on the streets: break me off a piece of that Kit Kat bar

Who is saying this?

If they get Ohtani, I can see Vlad being more expendable because hes basically a DH and they would be upgrading to the best DH in baseball, but I wouldn't put the odds that high of him being traded. I would certainly make the call as soon as Ohtani signed, though.

There was a rumor a few days ago that if they signed Ohtani they would look to trade Bichette and Vlad or something to that effect.

If it is indeed Toronto, it couldn’t be the stadium that lured him in. It’s the dumpiest thing around.
I guess except for that damn tower next door where they let people dangle over the edge for some reason. That place can horsefeathers right off.

I'm pretty sure it's currently half demolished right now for renovations, which is probably why they met with him at their ST complex.

The question with Vlad would be how much are you willing to overpay versus last years production? Are you going to project him as 6 WAR over these next 2 years? More? Less?

The Blue Jays need a MLB OFer. I would love to cash in on Tauchman and throw him in the deal and then throw in a pitcher like Brown. Is that enough for the Blue Jays to give up on Vlad? Probably not, but how much more would you be willing to give up?

If Ohtani is indeed headed to Toronto, the bidding war on Yamamoto is going to be crazy. You're going to have 3 desperate teams(LAD, NYY, NYM) all with extremely deep pockets trying to lure the last top tier piece of this offseason.

I still don't really buy any of those Toronto trade rumors. I think it's all the usual horsefeathers speculation. You don't pitch Ohtani he's coming to a winner and then immediately start dumping payroll to afford him. Doesn't pass the smell test.

Agreed.  Any team that signed Ohtani was going to have to give assurances they were putting the best team around him.  Like they might move some of the guys like Biggio or Jansen or Schneider who don't have an iron firm grip on a starting spot and now don't have DH as a fallback, but their existing stars are not going anywhere.

Trading Vlad wouldn't be to dump payroll, though. They promoted Spencer Horwitz who is a 1B/DH. Vlad is a 1B/DH. Ohtani is the best DH in the game. If they are trading Vlad, it's because a team is going to pay a decent price to get him and the return better fits the makeup of their roster. That's not a salary dump.

Does Dave Roberts get fired if he signs with the Jays?  Even though it would be ridiculous to not choose a team because they leaked a meeting with that player, I'm going to pretend that's why.

Didnt the Blue Jays also leak a little info about meeting with Ohtani? If he cared that much about keeping things completely secret he would pick the Cubs, because they havent said a damn thing.

Nothing leaked about the Cubs because they were probably never serious

Yeah, the Cubs are strange in that my only hope for the Cubs pulling this one out is the amount of *not* smoke on the Cubs part. They're odd in that when they pull moves, many times they just...happen. And with how little there has been on the Cubs for the past week, it both could make you think they're just way out, or way deep.

All that said, Toronto really sounds like the pick right now.

Even with his down year, Vladito projects as the 5th best hitter in baseball next year by Steamer.  They are not trading him to free up space for horsefeathering Spencer Horwitz lol

But no team is going to trade a big price for Vlad at roughly 2/50 in arb salaries, and Vlad is objectively a better option than Horwitz, so the main benefit you get from trading Vlad is cutting his salary.  You might use that salary elsewhere instead of pocketing the savings under the auspices of paying for Ohtani, but the salary is the reason.

The Cubs have made plenty of moves completely under the radar without any leaks. Marcus Stroman was signed in a single day and was flown out to Wrigley hours before there were any reports of the Cubs involvement. There was nothing about Counsell until he was signed. Seiya Suzuki was about to sign with the Padres until he was signed by the Cubs.
