Montgomery should be next. I want to see Herbert with a full workload.

Eh. I posted that I wanted them to within the last couple of pages, but the more I think about it, the less sense it makes. He's not going to cost much to keep around (and they have to spend a LOT of money), and the return would be trivial. No point, and they need his ability in pass protection.

I agree as much as I’d love to see it as a Herbert fantasy owner. Dangle him and see if some team makes a crazy offer but most likely he has more value to the Bears as a piece that can aid in developing Fields.

They'd get a 7th at best. He's worth more to keep Fields safe and Herbert fresh.

I hate losing Roquan. heres to him being unhappy and unwilling to re-up in Baltimore, and Poles being the high bidder on his impending FA

lol that’s not going to happen

Man there ain't gonna be a lot in FA to use their money on either.

I don't see a path where part of the offseason plan isn't a mega trade. Don't see Poles using all these picks.

He actually used more of them last year. So, I wouldn't necessarily say they won't use them all.

It was going to cost a lot either way. He doesn't want to come back even if the Bears were the highest bidder, IMO. With that said, I wanted him and Johnson signed long-term.

I will be making my first trip to Jerry's World for this game. \:D/

Prepare for a [expletive] getting in and out of that place. I hate it.

Scheduled a trolley for 2 hours before kickoff. They showed up 30 minutes late and made it about as far as the Texas Live/Global Life Field area before they gave up and let us off there. But that was close enough to walk to the game with plenty of time to spare.

I didn't bother trying to leave the area immediately. Spent a few hours at Texas Live to drink all the overpriced beer I could handle.

Good time overall!

Bears get the better of the Ravens two fifth rounders.

Nice.

But apparently the Ravens get a 3rd back if they don’t re-sign him.

I could see more trade downs in this draft to stockpile even more picks. I could be wrong, but I felt like the Bears improved their draft position a bit already after the games this past weekend. I honestly don't see many more wins for the Bears going forward. The only winnable games are Atlanta and Detroit twice and I don't really think they will win any of them. A top 5 is very realistic.

In a top 5 position, as much as I hate the thought - going defense first - the Bears are looking at Anderson (Alabama), Carter (Georgia) or Murphy (Clemson) they're all elite, potentially special impactful players and that's OK. Then go WR, OL next along with adding via free agency. The crappy part is we have to endure the tank, while, hopefully, Fields continues to shine.

In regards to using all 9 picks, the 10 he used last year were 7 pretty low value picks. He was just stockpiling bodies for a roster that had lots of holes throughout.

With more high value picks and a huge incoming FA splurge, I don't think there's necessarily gonna be as many holes.

And he could still trade down if he wants to create picks. He needs to use one of his picks on a star level talent trade I think. The math just won't add up otherwise.

I see no reason to trade up. We have holes all over the roster. Use your picks to acquire talent on both sides of the ball. We need NFL caliber players everywhere.

Spending your first draft trading down for more picks, trading away three high profile defensive players while not giving your qb anything to work with, and then coming into the next draft with just one first round pick is a disappointment. They are desperate for high end talent. They have to use their extra late round picks to move up. Three top 50 guys would really help. They don’t need six round 6/7 picks again.

I’d like them to package the Ravens and Eagles picks to move up.

This team isn’t desperate for base competence. They’ve already won 3 games with middling talent, and lost 2 they probably should have won. They can compete. What they need is high end talent.

Doesn't necessarily have to be across the board either, just think how much difference another receiver who can actually catch the ball and a competent pass blocker at, say C, would have made this season.

One WR and one OL then start dumping the rest into the absolutely terrible DL. I wouldn't be opposed to a 2nd WR/OL though.

I've got some hope for Harry, he's young, he's big, has good hands, could be one the receivers who can make the contested 50/50 catch that Justin needs.

To be clear, I don't want to see them move up the draft necessarily.

I think they need to move at least one of their 2nds to get a star player who they'll extend.

Basically, they can have flipped Roquan for a roughly equivalent young player, just one who fits their plans better. If they're trading Ro and just using the pick... The math of how they'll spend all their cash makes less and less sense.

And that will happen at the offseason. If they can flip a 5th for a flyer on a WR before 3:00 today that would be an okay move too. But a bigger move has to happen this offseason. Some team is gonna look to offload a player they don't wanna pay to extend and as long as their 1st isn't offered up, they should be agressive I think.
