The thing that bothers me is that I think we’re seeing who Eberflus/Getsy are. Yes with an elite QB they are passing more than this, but they seem to be in the uber conservative school of coaching

They've made a very clear statement with their personnel decisions that they want to be a run-first team. I hate it.

There’s run first and there’s by far leading the league in % of running plays called. Also that stat where the Bears have run the ball 92% of the time in goal to go situations (this was before 3 straight runs so it’s probably more like 94% now)

Fields season stats through almost 11 quarters of action this year:

20-40, 256 yards, 2 TD, 3 INT

Get ready for Getsy (like Nagy) to say they haven’t implemented the full system yet and once they do, Fields will throw more.

To add to this, there have been 23 instances of QBs throwing for more than 256 yards in a game over the first 2 weeks of the season.

Edit: assuming 64 quarterback starts in 2 weeks, that’s 36% of all performances that are better than Fields season total

Or are they realizing that the running game is by FAR the strongest part of their team, as currently constructed, and leaning on it. I want to see Fields have a lot more opportunity to learn and show what he can do as much as anyone else... But I can't be mad when they're rushing for over 8 yards a carry any the passing offense has looked LOST

The team is constructed that way because they chose to construct it that way.

You can balance a meager attempt to win games with developing your QB. Their passing game is doing things so anemic we haven’t seen something similar since the 70s. If he fails miserably he fails miserably. Bears are going to win a Super Bowl this year or any year running 65% of the time

There’s just no way they’re going to be a pass first offense. Unless they get down big in the game. It’s not happening. Eberflus wants to win games as he should. Fields is a joke at this point. For whatever reason he’s terrible.

No one is asking for a pass first offense I don’t think but throwing 14 times a game is like 70s style football. If they are playing to win they should probably just bench fields because Siemian can run this offense better the way they want it run

Primary receiver stared down (check), 3 guys covering him (check) and an overthrown pass (check).

Yeah it’s a clean pocket. If that’s his throw without pressure he’s not going to develop anything. Consistent failure is simply failure. There are no lessons learned.
