What a wild day. The top 6 teams in the AP Poll all lost plus #9 Texas Tech. Going to go out on a limb and guess the top 6 teams have never all lost on the same day before. I wouldn’t be surprised if the top 6 teams haven’t all lost in the same week before.

Since everyone lost, I'd imagine almost nothing will change within the polls/bracket matrix overnight, except maybe Baylor rising up for beating Kansas.

Ugh, Curbelo grabbing his neck after running into a hard screen is worrying. Hopefully it's not too bad, he came back in but it doesn't mean a whole lot long term. Hope he's feeling better overnight, really need him in the game late to prevent turnovers against pressing defenses.

I hope so as well, having flashbacks to Ayo last season, returned and, vs. OSU, towards the end of the BTT Championship game, was popped on the face. After effects showed up in the NCAA, most especially vs Loyola, you could see he wasn't right.

Curbelo plus a confident, improving Hawkins makes this Illini team very capable of a run in the tournament.

Everyone, well, at least The Big Ten Network, wants to fall all over themselves to give Greg Gard Big Ten or even National Coach of the Year, he's deserving no doubt. However, I think Brad Underwood may have a stronger case when you consider the Illini have been the Chicago Bulls of the NCAA with injuries, suspensions, COVID yet, despite all of this he has them in position to tie for the Big Ten Regular season Championship and probably a top 16 seeding in the upcoming tournament. Pretty good job dealing with quite a bit of adversity. Edited by gflore34

Wisconsin is the team I'm most confident will horsefeathers the bed come March. Other than a win @ Purdue, what have they really done? They beat Houston and St Mary's, I guess.............?

No doubt, they, along with Providence, are going to be one of those teams that has a magical regular season and gets exposed in March. I really believe Purdue is going to smoke them tomorrow, the Boilers have their problems on defense so, Johnny Davis will get his. But, something tells me Ivey, Edey and Williams are going to go off on them.

...being in sole-first of the Big 10 isn't a thing I guess?

It’s great to win the league, but not all schedules are created equally. Wisconsin didn’t have to go to Michigan, Michigan St or Iowa and only played Illinois once.

And I will also be laying the hammer with Purdue -2.5 tonight.

Providence is 10-1 in games decided by 6 points or less.

Wisconsin is 14-1 in games decided by 6 points with their only loss coming to Providence.

This is not sustainable.

I think that's a good bet, and SSR's point is way valid, but dogging Wisconsin for SOS is silly. They are 13th in the nation in SOS, 6th highest in the Big 10. (Illinois is 6th and 1st, respectively.)

I think the valid point when you look at Wisconsin is they don't have a matchup for a dominant big. Kofi had his way and so did Eddy, just they did a tremendous job against Eddy's supporting cast at Purdue. Plus Johnny went off.

To sell them short is a bit unfair. The BIG schedule will have steeled them against teams that don't have a dominant big. No one likes him but if Davison is hitting his 3's they have 4 to 5 guys who can score double digits.

I'll hear arguments that they aren't deep or they can't handle a big that can take over, but other than that, there's only a handful of teams that will have the best player on the floor against them. Johnny Davis is really really good. Also the poster earlier who called him a dick because he taunted the Indiana fans is the softest sports fan ever.

Sorry I just assumed everyone here did. Bad assumption from the UW alum on the Cubs message board full of opposing B1G fans

Welp... Another season of Painter having Purdue in the driver seat for a B1G title and yet, another title slips through his hands.

I don't know what it is with him or how to evaluate him. He racks up wins during the seasons and win a non conference tourney here and there, but when it comes to the big games, B1G tourneys, NCAA tourneys, etc., dude just can't close it out more often with a record like he has. Is it a coaching or players problem? Just luck? Or is it just normal even for a coach who wins as much as he does?

I'm not saying fire him because who would you replace him with as whoever you bring in most likely won't be as successful as he is? Just sucks to be anyone who's a die hard Purdue fans like my family and friends around here right now after tonight and MSU game last Sat.

That's a BAD loss for OSU

Illinois’ loss to them keeps looking worse.

Every team team that beats Illinois doesn’t immediately go into a slide after their win. It just seems that way.

Best dam head coach in the Purdue's history. His ability to do more with less is on an epic level. One five star recruit in his time there. Averaging 22 wins a year while playing in a real conference like the Big 10 with a bunch of 3 and 4 stars. Lets see Coach K or Self or Smith or Williams or that scum at Kentucky do that with out rolling the ball out there to a bunch of five stars all the time. Three Big 10 titles, one time coach of the year nationally and four time Big 10 coach of the year. If not for a fluke play by Virginia to force overtime in the 2019 tournament they probably go on to beat Auburn in the FF and them perhaps even Texas Tech in NC. It's West Lafayette! recruits aren't knocking down the door to go there. If you somehow ever get another coach as good or better they will quickly leave for a blue blood and a higher paycheck.

As an Indiana fan I fully endorse the idea of Purdue letting Painter go. One of my worst sport nightmares is the idea of Purdue hanging a banner. If anyone can do it in West Lafayette my money would be on Painter. Please! Purdue fans run him out of town now.

You know... I've felt this way about being a Purdue fan for a long time and have wondered if I'm just being a fan. You know, the "my teams always blow it" guy. But... it's kind of nice to have this validated. It sucks too because it just makes it seem like they are destined to continue to do this.

Am I a shitty basketball fan for being annoyed that Wisconsin banked in two shots back to back to beat Purdue? Good god am I butt hurt.
