Not a fan of keeping Hicks over Fuller. Hicks is 2 1/2 years older, and a 330 pounder, who has missed 9 games the last 2 years.

When he’s out the D looks so much worse though. Not sure I can say that about Fuller.

You can't say it about Fuller since he's been healthy since the one season he missed.

Hehe, touché

Bears signed Jeremiah Attaochu, in a move I really like. Good situational pass rusher who had a really productive 2nd half of the season. Better pass rusher than Mingo, but Mingo was really good vs the run last year.

Counting on the pass rush to do the coverages work for them?

a steady pass rush is the coverage's best friend

Getting to the QB fixes everything on D.

A pass rush makes the coverage job easier. You know you don't have to cover for 5 seconds and don't have to really worry about double moves, so you can jump on the first break more aggressively. But the way the NFL is evolving, there's really no such thing as a consistent pass rush (Bucs in SB notwithstanding). I think having guys that can cover is getting more important each season. The last few years, we've seen guys like Jalen Ramsey and Stephon Gilmore (among others) take away team's top WRs and have just as much impact as guys like Mack and Donald. You can get multiple guys dominating to get a pass rush, but typically don't have multiple guys in the secondary that can dominate in coverage. Then again, we saw the Legion of Boom lead a team to a championship in the not too distant past.

PFF has been pretty consistent in saying pass coverage is more important than pass rush (I don't subscribe so I haven't read their research).

So, the Bears signed former Chiefs RB, Damien Williams to a 1-year deal today. Pretty good signing. He opted out this past season, but could have easily been Superbowl MVP the last time he stepped onto the field (if it wasn't a QB only award). Turns 29 beginning of next month, but a really solid RB2 to Montgomery if he goes down again.

Sounds solid.

My Stockholm syndrome has me thinking I’d be intrigued by Dalton, Darnold and a late round draft pick in the qb room. If Darnold ain’t costing much you can still use your 1st and 2nd on thing s that will help 2021.

Go ahead and offer the Jets a conditional 2022 pick. If Darnold is on the bears in 2022, they get a 2nd. The only way he makes that team is if the they believes he’s any good and you’d make that trade.

Three new options without selling out the future. Maybe one of the doesn’t even suck!

An actual second running back?

That's the most optimism-inspiring thing I've seen from Pace all offseason.

Exactly what they should do at this point. They can't go into the season with a 36 year old and a 3rd round pick in the QB room. Darnold at least gives you a young option with potential. He also doesn't kill the cap space. A bonus is that there was a rumor that Seattle actually likes him, so if they haven't completely closed the door on Wilson, having Darnold could be the piece that gets them over the top in the off chance that Wilson and Carroll figure out they can't co-exist over the next month.

Decided to platy around with the PFF mock draft simulator....don't know a ton about the players down the list in the draft, but here's what happened

This will never happen, but would have a lot of ammo for 2022 draft for the new GM/HC!!!

Yeah, I don't know how they grade/allow trades, but I did another one where I got 4 other teams first rounders.
