Gonna go on record now with this being a bad idea

Marlins OPS against LHP is 100 points higher (.776) than it is against RHP (.673)

This is no time to reward your buddies or someone who used to be a postseason stud. I heart Jon like everyone else here but come on. I do at least feel somewhat confident that he will be on a short leash, and if he is yanked we have solid options to cover innings. But it might be too late by then.

A Lester/Alzolay (or whoever popped up) playoff piggyback has been mentioned here even before the shutdown, seems like the most obvious thing to do. Could anything else even be the plan in an elimination game? It's not like you can count on Alzolay to throw more innings in the game than Lester, still would be hoping for 3-4, maaaaaaaybe 5+, and the elimination factor makes pretty much everyone available

Yeah no idea what the Marlins platoon situation is like, but this is fine assuming Lester is on the shortest leash possible. Barring disaster, Kyle and Yu are going to go deep in their games. Tell Lester he gets one time through, have Alzolay ready from the beginning, and then have Q ready to go right after that. Ideally none of their hitters see any of those guys more than once.

I feel for Ross on that decision just because he's kind of between a rock and a hard place. Tossing out Mills or Alzolay, who are probably the next best 2 options in some order, for their first postseason start in that circumstance (for Alzolay it would be his 7th MLB start) would be a tough ask

Give me Lester over Mills and Adbert’s first playoff appearance. Those guys can be ready to come in out of the pen, if needed.

I would treat it as a bullpen game honestly. I think we have enough quality arms to get through 9 innings.
