i'm already past the anger and am now just feeling relief that this didn't happen against the brewers or cards or something. losing to the marlins is alright. it properly embarrasses the organization, and we don't have to worry about their fans being annoying about it. cubs get to just slink out in the first round quietly.

I know you are captain pessimist but honestly you are saying what I've been thinking. But I've been known to be pretty pessimistic myself. None of the Marlins players scare me offensively, Yu should be able to mow them down for 7-8 innings. Who knows in Game 3. I'd still much prefer a bullpen style game, but maybe that's what we'd get even if BD John pitches. So there is definitely room for optimism, but at the same time the result of this playoffs could have been a lot worse than feebly getting swept by the Marlins.

i honestly don't even remember a single moment from that series. all i remember is the nats giving the cubs a bunch of free runs in game 5.

How can you forget Almora actually being a good enough baseball player to PH in a situational spot and getting a key hit? Or Rizzo screaming 'respect me!' after hitting a 150 ft popup that fell in between 3 fielders to win the game?

Game 1 was pretty ho hum for a win, Game 2 we were Bryce Harpered, and G4 Michael Tucker was a thing.

Last 7 playoff games offense

2017 NLCS

G1-2 run homer

2-Solo homer

3-Solo homer

4-3 Solo homers

5-Solo homer

18 WC Game

G1-RBI Double

20 WC Round

G1-Solo homer

1 run 5 times

1 runs 1 time

3 runs 1 time

Manufactured a run 1 time in the last 7 playoff games. We used all of our luck in Game 5 of the nlds.

You can add in Rizzo’s solo homer vs the Brewers in the Central division 1 game playoff to the ineptitude.

This happens like 50% of the time Hendricks goes past the 6th inning and people still bitch when he's taken out early.

I’m fine with him starting the 7th since it was 7-8-9 coming up. I would have been fine taking him out also since we had a fully rested pen. He probably should have been taken out after the first hit and he absolutely should have been taken out after the second.

He wasn’t sharp today and was lucky he’d gotten through 6 without allowing a run. He was over 100 pitches. It was 4th time through the order. He was facing a hitter with an OPS 145 points higher against righties than lefties in his career. Hendricks 100% should not have faced Dickerson.

Carl Edwards choked in a big playoff game again and Ernie Johnson didn’t stop talking about Trea Turner (who did nothing). Also, mold.

Sometimes Hendricks looks awesome through 6 and it doesn't make sense not to keep him rolling. At no point today did he look like that guy, and he was giving up progressively harder contact as the game went along. Giving him 7-8-9 was understandable but he should've been right the hell out after that.

Things I believe. David Ross is a moron, the offense has been bad and inconsistent (it’s not “this” bad), Yu Darvish is gonna horsefeathers tomorrow and we are getting a Game 3 and BDJ will do well enough for them to win the series.

Jon will do well enough until Ross leaves him in too long and costs us another game.

Nah, Lester will gut out 4-5 innings. Then Ross will screw up the decisions from there, most likely including bringing in Alzolay in a tight spot, having him walk in 2 runs, and raise questions about the confidence of our top pitching prospect for months going into next year. Also, Billy Hamilton will get thrown out pinch running for Schwarber in like, the 4th inning.
