Mlb network showed Freese and Joey Cora going at it in the dugout but I turned it too late to see what was going on.

Probably pissed they didn't hit Rizzo.

True, told Cora his ex coach Matheny would’ve hit Rizzo and Bryant.

Rizzo's dirty slide is the funnest thing to happen this season. I hope they go full heel and start doing it more often.

Clearly Rizzo was going for both already.

I just saw the video of the infamous Rizzo Slide and it didn't seem all that bad? He was clearly in the basepath, he could have not slid as much into the catcher but imo its still kosher

The problem is how high his leg gets, IMO.

The slide is several things, unnecessary, probably against the rules, and should be against the rules, but the contact itself wasn’t dangerous or malicious. The view from the 3rd base dugout can be misleading because Rizzo actually pulls his left leg back to avoid hitting Diaz high. Worst case scenario the collision of Rizzo’s legs to ground forced that motion which wasn’t hitting DIaz high and wasn’t dangerous.

Rizzo slide was within the rules and it seems like he tried his best to make it not dangerous. Let's just hope Pittsburgh beans him in the butt and not high.

Justin Wilson has only given up runs in 3 of 22 outings this season.

Sham luck. His BB/9 is a ghastly 7.65. His GB% is 32.6%. His WHIP is 1.5. His FIP is 4.65; his xFIP is fuckin' 4.95. His ass has been saved by managing to strand guys so far at a rate that he is very, very unlikely to sustain.

Do not trust this monster.

11 walks in his first 9 outings, 6 in his last 13 appearances. 1.59/2.76 ERA/FIP in that latter stretch.

Not you, too.

Something evil lives in Chatwood and Wilson, and they need to be cast out. His xFIP is still 4.44 in that stretch, and he's riding that .208 BABiP HARD.

Let the record show that i have always been a Chatwood skeptic. Wilson though, decent odds he’s a dime store version of Edwards going forward, which is fine for his role as 6th most trusted reliever.

i always think it's funny when mojo starts using advanced stats that mean nothing to him other than just being acronyms on fangraphs

"have you seen his URL? unsustainable. Don't be fooled by his IP Address!"

Wilson and Chatwood should have whatever parts of their arms are healthy harvested and given to Yu. That’s all they’re good for.

Also how many times has Wilson finished an inning when he’s brought in? It seems like 50% or worse and other guys have to come in and clean up his horsefeathers a lot to keep those runs off the board in his 3 of 22 outings or whatever only giving up runs

Man, I just do not trust him at all. Even when he's not a catastrophe it looks like he has zero clue where the ball is going once it leaves his hand.

I concur with this take. I definitely think the slide was unnecessary, but he accomplished what he was trying to do -- break up the double-play -- without hurting the catcher. The slide was in no way dirty, and Rizzo is NOT a dirty player. I think Rizzo is well-regarded among his peers. I wish Rizzo just avoided him, but there is no reason to be upset with what he did. It wasn't a dirty play and I hope he doesn't get hit in retaliation.

Another pic of the slide:

This kind of slide should be against the rules though because a player with bad intentions could inflict real damage on the catcher.

I’m not saying the slide necessarily should be legal but I think it’s annoying that people are flipping out that Rizzo should get beaned. If you’re a person who subscribes to hitting people when you’re mad aren’t you the type that’s okay with hard slides to break up double plays?
