I'm still waiting for Addy to be good.

I looked it up just because I was curious and not trying to make any point, but him and Javy have the same fWAR. That is surprising.

OBP is a hell of a drug.

Also, Javy has 9 errors already, so Addy's got a pretty decent defensive edge thus far.

didn't someone do a study on whats faster, sliding vs. running past 1st? Mythbusters?

Yes, and for a team so into the numbers, you would think there would be some organizational training to not do it. However, a lot of it is human nature I'd guess. Baez is definitely safe if he runs through the bag.

i guess thats why we have a "baserunning coach"

Errors don't really factor into advanced fielding metrics. Addy has superior range and a more accurate arm.

Yeah Addy’s defense is mostly carrying his WAR and Javy’s power has carried his. It would be nice if we could just give Addy, Javy’s power. And it’s more than errors for Javy on defense, Russell is just way, way better than him by every metric.

"Error Runs" are a component of UZR/DRS. I'm not sure if they're 1:1 with the errors that come via the oficial scorer, but it's what's dragging Javy's defensive numbers down this year. (he's 3 runs below average on the year)

The Giants suck and Derek Holland really sucks. That is all.

So if I'm reading between the lines, Holland goes 6 and gives up 1 run; Cubs lose 5-1?

Why am I not surprised by the Cubs’ offensive output (accent on the second syllable)?
