the astros are doing what the cubs were supposed to do

Yeah apparently they are more focused and prepare better than the Cubs according to the guy that sprayed our #3 hitter in the genitals with shoe cleaner an hour before game 7 of the World Series.

who was the guy that supposedly flipped out over that? was it rizzo?

i'll always know manaea as the guy who tore up the cape cod league when the cubs were definitely drafting a pitcher

Was he the Schwarber or Bryant draft? I remember reading a lot about him and hearing/thinking he was definitely in play for us until he had that injury.

Bryant draft. Jonathan Gray essentially replaced him as the other top SP option with Mark Appel.

Yes, Rizzo was doing the Rocky thing naked before each of games 5 through 7 before Rondon decided it would be really awesome to spray him in the groin with shoe cleaner. Thankfully Ross managed to lighten the mood enough to get Rizzo to shake it off.

Angels pitcher Jaime Barria threw 49 pitches in the first inning today against the Giants, and allowed no runs.

Brandon Belt had a MLB record 21 pitch at bat vs him that lasted almost 13 minutes. That's incredible.

Arenado hit another HR tonight that looked pretty identical to the one he hit yesterday. That stadium is a joke, no wonder he hits 40+ a year. At best those balls are doubles in every other stadium.

Imagine Javy playing in Coors, not only being Javy but also having opposing pitchers not being able to throw breaking stuff like they're used to.

Pssshh, imagine this entire Cubs offense playing in Coors for 81 home games. They would easily score 900+ runs every season lol.

Whoever thought it was a good idea to play baseball in Denver was either really high or really dumb.

Can't it be both?

Umpire did not allow the Braves to challenge a call because they said Snitker took too long to decide. I don't think I've seen that.

Didn’t the Reds lose a game because Price did this last year? I remember it was a game ending play against them and it was the wrong call and Price didn’t challenge in time so the game ended.

I feel like the Molina got a walk off that should have been called back as a ground rule double or foul or something like that, but the other team didn't challenge in time.

Yeah. That was against the Reds back in 2016. The umps said Price took too long to challenge it.

Cardinals still didn’t make the playoffs.

10 of the VB's 15 wins have come vs teams with a combined 24-67 record. They're 5-8 vs teams with a winning record. I know it all evens out and beating the bad teams is something good teams need to do, just so many of their wins are vs the worst of the worst and the few games they've played vs good teams they aren't good.

The first half of their lineup is really nice. But they've got some serious trash on their roster. They've got like 3 guys playing every night who are Broken Heyward bad.

And that rotation is just begging to be donged to death by some good lineups.

Yeah the top 3-4 are nice when healthy but they already all have had injuries this year and most have a profile of being injured guys in their careers (on top of half being wrong side of 30). But yeah they are running out at least 2 of Sogard, Perez, Villar, Arcia (pretty much Alcides Escobar 2.0) between SS/2B every night and whoever is catching (which was a league average-ish spot for them last year and they have the same group this year) and other than Arcia they aren't getting the Heyward like defense to make up for the horsefeathers bats.

I think it's only a matter of time until their rotation blows up and Counsell is really riding their good bullpen arms hard so far. Hader is on pace for about 100 innings, Jeffress, Barnes and Albers are on pace for over 90 (no RP cleared 90+ last year and only 5 cleared 80+).

The underlying numbers seem to support this as well..... Their Pythag W-L is 12-11 and Fangraphs is projecting them for 82-80.

Now do the Cardinals. Never mind, I got it. 7-0 vs the Reds and 6-9 vs everyone else.

Matheny challenged (actually, asked for a review and was granted it - he already used his challenge and lost) that Jay Bruce didn’t touch 1B on his HR in the 10th last night. Replay showed he stepped dang near the very center of each base. No idea why they thought he missed 1B.
