Arrenado charged the mound in a bench-clearing brawl between the Rockies and Padres.

I saw that earlier, is there a history there or was a Padre hit earlier? 0 outs, 0 on, in the 3rd inning seems like an odd time to be intentionally throwing at a guy. Maybe just chill out not best 3B in MLB.

Manny Margot took one square in the ribs last night and Renfroe took one off the wrist the inning before

Got it. Baseball is so dumb with these retaliatory things. It makes no sense to keep throwing at guys because someone is going to end up hurt or suspended on your own team.

Yeah, I agree. Trying to find justice by hitting the opposing team seems like it will just lead to more escalation. They need to make the suspensions WAY longer for pitchers in instances where it's clear and deliberate that they were intentionally trying to hit the batter.

The thing that got Nolan hot was the pitcher didn’t throw at any Rockies in the inning before after Renfroe wore it. Thought he was being the target.

If your gonna retaliate do it that next inning first guy you face. And it’s done. And the butt is the preferred target

Maybe I didn't give Jarlin Garcia the credit he deserves when he shut us out for 6 innings in long relief. He just threw 6 no hit innings against the Mets in his 1st career start. Mattingly pulled him after 77 pitches, after saying before the game that, perhaps he would throw as many as 90, or more, depending on the circumstance.

The Dodgers are 4-7.

Obviously it’s early but every team in the NL West besides the Diamondbacks have a negative RD. The VB have a -15 RD.

Could see the Dodgers having a heartbreak hangover season. So close, yet no cigar. Plus if you factor in some regression and injuries I think they are a worse team than last year.

Was it TT that called this?

The Padres only got one hit tonight against the Giants and it was by a pitcher (Clayton Richard) who was a pinch hitter and didn't pitch in the game.

Vaunted Pirates lost by 5 to the Marlins. Maybe the deal was we’d split with them if they help take care of the vaunted teams in the division for us

Vogelbach hit his first big league HR. He is still quite large.

He will always be a large man lol. It took way too long for that to happen. Mike Montgomery hit one for us last year.

Our new guys suck, but Jake is who we thought he was. Throwing 92 and not missing any bats. He's been throwing strikes and getting grounders, so maybe he's only mostly dead, though.

Dodgers a few innings away from being 6.5 games behind the DBacks(they’d also fall to last in the West if the Padres hold on). That’s quite the head start to spot them, especially since I’m not all that sure the Dodgers are 7 games better than the DBacks with Turner broken and their pitching being what it is.

Forsythe (who gave them 2 WAR last year) just had to leave the game taking warm up throws at 3B with what looked like a throwing shoulder injury. I think they are in major trouble. That division is good, they have guys hurt and pitching being very mediocre (and injury prone) outside of Kershaw.

Yeah, I think the Dodgers might be in actual trouble. They had an incredibly lucky year last year. They were miraculously fortunate with their health. No serious injuries, despite their rotation being a mobile surgical unit. They randomly uncovered guys like Brandon Morrow. Chris Taylor was a 5-win player. Even the other guys largely performed above expectations. It wouldn't be crazy to expect some regression to the mean from Puig, Barnes, Bellinger, etc. I think it's even more likely one or more starting pitcher blows up or becomes injured. They also had completely unsustainable success on balls in play. They got worse in the off-season.

They are a lot like we were last year, except without the trophy. And I also think they were starting off at a lower baseline and only reached those heights because they were even luckier than we were in 2016.

Yeah I’m pretty sure there’s a 90+ win team in that division, they don’t have the margin we did last year because it’s going to take more than 83-85 wins for the division and they aren’t as talented/already hurt/regressing. They do have the prospects, however, to go do a trade or 3 to help turn it around.
