What’s up with Bryant? Has the not clutch thing been debunked? Because it sure seems that way. What about the theory that his numbers are disproportionately based on destroying bad pitching? Does that hold any weight?

God watching him flail at strike 3 in the dirt is getting tiresome.

You are very close to realizing that you're looking for something to be wrong because the game was frustrating. Hitting Scherzer, Strasburg, Kershaw, and Jansen(15 of his 25 PA) is hard. You'd hope he'd do better of course, but he also has 5 hits(2 XBH) and a walk in 6 games. He hasn't been a black hole.

Why are they asking Maddon about soda taxes?

Huh. I turned off the TV after Puig stumbled through his interview.

I turned it on MLBN and the 1st question I heard was someone asking Maddon about a new soda tax in chicago I Guess?

Joe compared application of the HP-collision rule to the soda tax

The hitters better start hitting and the bullpen better start pitching. They got lucky to win the first series. Their luck won’t continue if they keep playing like this.

That hurts, but I’m still kinda coming down from game 5 so not reaching for the heroin yet.

Thought our guys looked sharp against Kershaw and hit him pretty hard. But the disparity between the bullpens was pretty scary.

Hopefully Jon is sober enough to give us 7 strong tomorrow.

The league has adjusted to him. It was fun while it lasted.

Sounds smarter than many of the political pundits on TV. That’s probably not saying much, though..

Culberson still hasn't touched home plate.

He doesn't need to if the plate is blocked

I didn’t see a blocked plate.

I saw one heck of a great play.

Fair enough. Hitting good pitchers is hard. But he’s an MVP. You expect more from an MVP. He already has a pretty extensive and very mediocre playoff resume.

I must remember to mute the commercials. Ever since the playoffs began, that annoying “music” from the Google smartphone commercial sticks around in my head for a while.

Bryant hit .308/.400/.523 in the playoffs last year. He hit 3 home runs, one tied a game in the 9th inning, and the other 2 gave the Cubs leads in World Series elimination games.

Have a question about challenge replays. When a rule states that “if in the umpire’s judgement......”, is the on field umpire’s judgement who made the on field call taken into consideration when the guy in NY makes the ultimate decision? I mean some rules are clear cut. And others allow judgements. So who’s judgement matters? The on field ump or the replay official?

We are so winning this series V dum to think otherwise

The Vaunted Dodgers won a game everyone was ready to punt a day ago. Let them have it.

For me, it’s not as much that they lose, but how they lose. Two consecutive walks which turns into an two consecutive runs. First reliever out of pen giving up HR and lead the first batter he faces. Second reliever giving up another dong. And then the offense not finding first base after what, the second inning?? I get the Dodgers and Nats have great pitching. But so does Houston and the Yankees. At some point the hitters are gonna need to hit good pitching if they want to win games.

Better hope UMFan gives us another 6 game win streak and not another 0fer.
