A 162 game schedule should mean something.

In the future, I'd like to see a team added to each league and each league have 2 divisions of 8 teams with each division winner and 2 WC teams making the playoffs.

4 teams per league is enough.

And as long as the current 2 WC system is in place, have the WC series expanded to best of 3. The 1 game series is beyond ridiculous

the single elimination wild card game has produced some of the best baseball drama over the past few seasons. the playoffs in their current configuration are fine.

Hmm... Nah.

And the best part is it was my idea. It's worked exactly as I'd hoped and is awesome.

Yeah good luck with that. System not broken.

Current playoff setup is the best we have ever had. And everyone can shut up forever about making the WC best of 3. There are like six people on the planet who actually want to watch a 3.5-hour game 2 between a couple of 87-win teams from the opposite league from their fandom instead of getting on with the real playoffs.

The 1 game play-in is the evidence that a 162 game schedule means something. I really think that there shouldn't be a wild card at all. Best record gets a bye. The other two division champs play a best of 7, but that's me. I do not like a best of 5 series.

I'll again suggest having the best record in each league play a world series and have an expanded playoffs of 1-3 game series separate from that. Get your elimination game excitement expanded while still having an outlet of prestige for the 162 game grind.

Horrible

Nobody will give a horsefeathers about your NIT

I could see a case being made for the division series to be 7 games instead of 5 but overall I think they're pretty much perfect. I love the wildcard games.

I think what we currently have is perfectly fine and doesn't need change. It's trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist but trying to make a thing a thing like the idiots on ESPN always talking about during games pace of play things like limiting mound visits (like making a game 2 min shorter is going to improve anything).

That being said, I'm fine with it staying the same, but if there's a change my fix would be to shorten the season 5-8 games, keep the season the same length calendar wise, add in 1-2 extra off days during the regular season for everyone then make the WC round best of 3 and the DS a best of 7. WC gets 1 off day between games 2 and 3 but then the DS starts the day after game 3.

this defeats the entire purpose of what makes this system great.

Here's the deal people. We're in the middle of college football and NFL seasons, NBA and NHL is fast approaching. And you know what, there's a winner take all elimination game tonight and tomorrow. This is huge. You can play an entire set of 3/5/7 games series and never get to a winner take all elimination game. These games matter. They are exciting. Game 7s are amazing, and maybe we'll get one this year. But these two back to back games are the perfect appetizer to the full playoff meal. Enjoy them and don't pity the team that loses.

People don't care about the NIT because there are dozens and dozens of teams playing in the more prestigious event. If the more prestigious event has literally 2, it's exclusive enough that people have interest in a tournament without the big title. Fans of non-tournament teams still watch conference tournaments.

and that is all you will get, fans of those 2 specific teams. There will be no national audience, and you'll probably lose a good amount of those 2 teams' fans as well.

MLB Playoffs are a great thing. Stop trying to ruin a great thing.

Lol if there is one event with stakes and another that is effectively just an exhibition you're going to lose any semblance of a national audience and probably a lot of fans who feel (correctly) that their team is playing for peanuts.

Why remove the gravitas from the tournament the way it is set up currently in favor of a one real series championship and then some other games?

Also, the one game WC setup is perfect. The games are absolutely must win and everyone involved knows it. It isn't a surprise. Nothing unfair about it at all.

Is it unfair that a team gets to advance to the next round after only winning one game? No? Then it isnt unfair that your season can be over after one game too. Win your damn division if you feel entitled to more than a coinflip to continue your season.
