I'm a nominal fan of one of the NBA super teams and even the thought of investing just 5 minutes in watching them seems like a waste of time. All non-baseball sports are bad, basketball and football and their respective divisions are especially bad

living in NC, college basketball is king here so you sort of have to care. I enjoy actively rooting against UNC and Duke (especially UNC) quite a bit.

But getting back to the cubs and the pursuit of 108 pages...still perusing WS gear and probably will for another few days and order an item or two. Think I'll probably save the framed plaques/print press/pennants etc. for christmas ideas (at my age my mom and aunts still want suggestions when literally all i ever respond is "gift cards are portable for my trip back home"). I know I'll buy a lot for my son, too - some clothes but mainly stuff to re-live with him when he's old enough to understand.

Pretty much. I'm looking forward to not really caring about sports at all until the WBC for once.

Baseball is the only sport I am a true fan of. I will use football to take naps on weekends, or watch with friends for big games. Basketball only interests me during March madness. I only watch hockey if my friends are watching. I always go through a slight depression after baseball season is over. Even years where the Cubs have been awful, I still miss it in the off season. Today I have been wandering around thinking I can watch baseball tonight, and the being sad because I remember I can't, and then being happy because the Cubs won it all. It is such a weird mix of emotions I am not used to. I am sure it won't feel so strange after a few years of Cubs domination!

Other than baseball, I primarily like to enjoy a good fight, especially when a hockey game breaks out.

There won't be any sports with anywhere the intensity or meaning that these cubs game had for awhile and when the games are like that again my teams won't be involved so I won't care for sports until next baseball season.

I enjoy watching most sports.

I care about the Cubs more than anything else in sports, but I generally enjoy watching football more than baseball. Namely, college football.

CFB>MLB>NHL and then the rest just fall in the same boat for me.

This is a fun tangent to stretch this thread out though.

Flew in to Chicago for the weekend for the parade and rally. Went by Wrigleyville today. There wasn't a lot of brick space left and my chalk-writing skills aren't great, but this is for Fred Hornkhol:

Sorry if mentioned already, but Game 7 is finally on iTunes for $2.99. If only they knew what most of us would pay for it.

Did they take it down? I can't see it there anymore.

They won on Wednesday night (here on West Coast). It's now Saturday night. I've watched the game completely through twice on DVR. I've re-watched the post-game stuff on both MLB and FOX1 again. I've watched the parade and the rally. I'm still moved to tears EVERY single time I see the final play, hear the final call, or hear that damn Eddie Vedder song. And don't get me started on that Nike commercial or Budweiser commercial. I'll be in Chicago a week from tonight and my first plan is to visit Wrigley Field where I'm sure I'll cry again. I don't really believe that major media, nor the fans of other teams, fully understand the depth and impact that this victory has had upon us Cub fans. It is STILL slowly sinking in.

This is now my biggest regret for moving out of the Chicago area, that I wasn't around for the end of this, even though I was in town during games 4 and 5. Still, kind of crazy to see Omaha sports getting lines before the stores even got the merchandise, then selling nearly everything within hours of getting it in.

This October was a draining and exhausting experience. The only innings I missed were the last two of WS game 4.

No one could blame you for that. I tuned out mentally - would have shut the tube off myself, but we were guests at a friend's house. When Kipnis launched that donger, I was thinking, "Daniel horsefeathering Murphy, all over again. F.M.L."

The W flag is still flying.

I still have my W hanging in the living room window, hung in front of the curtains. I have no idea how long it will stay up... Maybe until it's time to put up Xmas decorations? Till pitchers and catchers report? Might be the hardest damned decision I'll have to make over the next four months.

Eh, decorate around it. Keep it up till ST, or until the Cubs get their first loss.

Not a hard decision at all! :-)
