Can you imagine a Dusty Baker-led team coming back in those circumstances?

A Dusty Baker team would have wilted in front of the Dodgers.

This year's Dusty Baker team did wilt in front of the Dodgers!

Oh - I see what you did there. :-)

I've been watching MLB's 40 greatest World Series moments. Certainly the Cubs-Indians game 7 will make that list -- and it will be very high on it.

I would title it "The Imperfect Thriller."

What channel is that on? I'm not seeing it anywhere.

Winning run was scored by the 2012 first-rounder, after advancing on a fly ball by the 2013 first-rounder, after coming in a pinch-runner for the 2014 first-rounder.

Homer by 2011 1st Rounder too.

I just now went back and read the posts during the 10th inning. My last few days have been whirlwind awesome. I was able to watch Game 7 with two other Cubs fans that I have met since moving to Kansas City. After it was over I had crying FaceTime conversations with my family. I got maybe 4 hours of sleep that night.

6:00 PM Thursday three of us left KC and picked up my brother along the way getting into a dive of a hotel in Joliet after 2:00 AM. There were other Cubs fans checking in at that same time from Iowa. Woke up at 7:00 AM. Had to park many blocks away from the Midway CTA station as all lots were full. Took the El to our hotel downtown to drop off bags. Tried to get into the rally. Could not make it into the interior area where you could actually see the rally. We were exhausted, so we decided to go to a bar to watch. Incredible decision. When we walked in there were maybe 10 people in the bar. 10 minutes later there were a few hundred.

Tried to go to Wrigley on the red line and saw that was going to be impossible, so we took the brown line instead. Wrigley was more crazy FRIDAY AFTERNOON than the Mizzou campus was when the Cardinals won the World Series. Grabbed a few pictures and some merchandise and headed back downtown. Walked the streets smoking cigars and slowly adding to our merchandise collection as we walked. Left Saturday morning and stopped in Springfield to purchase a KB jersey with the WS patch. Discussed our favorite moments pre-2016, 2016 regular season and then favorite moments in each round.

Over 1000 miles and like 17 hours in the car. And that's the third time I've done that in the last 5 weeks. I also flew it a fourth time. Chicago, you were everything I ever imagined you would be during and after our title run.

WE JUST WITNESSED THE GREATEST SPORTS MOMENT OF OUR LIVES AND MAYBE THE GREATEST BASEBALL GAME IN MLB HISTORY AND WE WON!

Cubs win!

All the jokes about Heyward's $200 million speech are going to be really funny when he's a 7-win player for the 118-win Cubs next year.

Yea. I can't believe he will be as bad at the plate next year as he was this year

Since this thread is still at 106, I thought I would chime in with my thoughts.

For those of you who don't know me, I'm the resident NSBBer who runs the Home Run Derby in the Events forum. Even though I didn't originate it, I took over the duties when it was close to going away several years ago.

Anyway... I've been a Cubs fan since probably a short time after the 1984 season. I was 8 at the time. I'm not as long suffering as some, but I lived through 1989, 1998, 2003, 2004 (regular season collapse), 2007, 2008, and to a degree 2015.

This year I turned 40, and I've probably had the greatest year of my life. My wife Nicole and I adopted our 6 year old daughter who had been in our foster care since she was 2 1/2. We rescued her from a toxic environment and have given her all the love and family we could provide. We became foster parents, because my wife has a condition that makes it hard to conceive children, and when you do, the rate of miscarriage is high. As it turned out, when things were getting closer to adoption with our 6 year old, the stress winding down must have done wonders, because we finally got the news last fall (shortly after the NLCS collapse) that we were finally pregnant. On July 28 this summer, our beautiful baby girl was born.

To top it all off... the Chicago Cubs are now World Series Champions! I could tell a much longer version of this story, but maybe another time. Let's just say, I was having horrible flashbacks when the ball went off Addison's glove, and then the game tying home run. I stood in my in-laws' living room for innings eight through ten; too stressed to sit down.

I really thought I was going to cry like a baby when we won. But I only had watery eyes a bit... I think the entire game/series drained me. However, looking at all the videos/stories since, it is hard to stop from crying.

I only wish my wife's brother, my brother-in-law, was here to see it all. Sadly, he passed away at the age of 26 in 2010.

T.J. -- we did it, bro! Cubs are the champions!

Spent this weekend in Chicago for the parade Friday and just to be around the atmosphere throughout the weekend. What a great experience (and wonderful weather!). We were able to get into the rally as someone had knocked over some fencing and we were able to scoot in before the cops came. I've never seen so many people in Cubs gear in my life.

We went to Wrigley on Saturday morning and there were tons of people just milling around. All of it was so beautiful to experience. We were on Michigan Ave on Saturday afternoon, just going to shops and seeing what WS stuff we could buy. We went into the Under Armour store and it just so happened that at that time Albert Almora was there taking pics. Got a picture with him and shook his hand.

It's been an experience of a lifetime and a weekend to remember forever.

.176/.267/.252......That was the 2015 slash line of David Ross.

Anyone have him slashing .229/.338/.446 this year? Becoming a true fan favorite? Hitting a homer in Game 7 of the World Series? Getting invited for a guest spot on SNL?

horsefeathers. I love baseball.
