I wouldn't be surprised if the WBC really horsefeathers him up and he's better next year Or maybe he'd just rather play for a horsefeathers team with low/no expectations. He wasn't very good with the White Sox this year either

Every other day the Cubs are back. This is not one of those days. They're just an average baseball team.

The Cubs are average team, barely good enough to win the terrible NL Central. They're nothing more than that and a quick 3 or 4 game out in the NLDS. Hopefully they're ready to be good again next year. Interesting that you didn't have anything to say when they were winning by 10 last night. If you've followed the 2017 Cubs, you knew that 15 run performance was going to be followed up by a 0-2 run performance. They're an inconsistent, average team.

I don't think they were the Bad Cubs tonight. They had a lot working against them: Castillo and the back of Reds' pen being good, Justin Wilson being a bad pitcher, baseball being an incredibly stupid sport, their own manager. They had chances and fought those last two innings. They might be chocking dogs. But I don't think they were the Broken Cubs. They scored 1 run against the Reds. Castillo was good but the Cubs should be a good enough offense to put up more than 1 run against the Reds. But they're not a good offense this season. Way more bad games than good.

I was cool with Javy bunting. Iglesias has bad lefty splits and Zobrist is better hitting from the left side and nearly tied it there. Jay and Avila need to come through.

Didn't Philips suck at Soldier Field fanfest? No thanks to him. Like the Aguayo pick-up. Little risk involved and maybe a change of scenery will do him well.

This is my least favorite Cubs team of my lifetime. 2004 was bad but they won 89 games in a tough division. This team is going to bumble their way to 84 wins in the worst division in baseball. Kyle Schwarber might actually suck, Addison Russell might be a rapist, nobody can hit in the clutch. I thought there was no way this team was going to piss me off after last year but by God they're doing it.

You're responding to something that nobody said. I just said I too want them to win the division. Meaning I want them to win the division. But the fact remains that if we can't win a crappy division then it goes down as an embarrassing season considering the talent we have compared to the others. And in that case, why would I feel disappointed? I'd feel annoyed and embarrassed. There's like no scenario where I could be embarrassed about a group of players that just won the World Series. Disappointed and super frustrated? Absolutely. But, I also know they're going to be awesome again regardless of how this year goes and basebally things happen. A 100 win team the year before winning 15 less games with the same roster back and no major injuries until now would be pretty damn embarassing.

A Bumgarner away from losing three straight series. And the Cardinals are just 2.5 out of first. The Cubs were the only team that bought in their division and should have started to pull away, they're not.

Giving up 4 runs to the Giants isn't defendable. This team really just isn't good.
