Okay, I am alive. I just checked my pulse and got confirmation. It took me until now to regain my senses and retrieve all the cars we left at the bar last night. Uber picked us up at 3:30am California time and I suppose it was a good call to have them take us home because our Uber driver got pulled over right in front of us. I feel a bit stupid buying the entire bar (mostly Padres fans and not Cub fans) a round of drinks when A) the place was packed and B) I didn't even know some of them, but a lot of them were cheering for the Cubs and helping make the night pretty special so far away from Chicago. My bar tab was $450 (including the tip), but I guess I got off cheep in relation to what people were paying to get into game 7.

So many things to take away from this game. Things I hated, but also things I loved. Many or all have probably been talked about here since we are nearing Brian Roberts trade thread territory. Bryant's smile before he even snagged that slow grounder was simply amazing. Ross hitting that home run off of Miller. Rain delaying the game. Baez and Ross both making up for their fielding gaffs with home runs. Schwarber getting that hit, and then Almora taking 2nd on that fly ball which set up everything that happened next. I absolutely loved that game. Glad it's recorded, because I do want to watch it again, sober this time.

I love you all. Life is good and the Cubs are the World Series Champions!

Whatever happens tonight, I hope Joe is looking for a new job next season. I don't want to see him in Cubs uniform anymore.

is it ok if he goes through the world series parade before he gets fired?

Bring back Dusty! *clap clap, clap clap clap*

Holy horsefeathers is that post real?

That would make one hell of a résumé line: burned a half dozen Chicago Cubs' ace arms within 20 years.

I'm trying to decide if it will get me fired if I make my students watch highlights from the series tomorrow.

If the principal had any sense they'd cancel school today.

Since I'm in Louisiana, I don't think she or any other school could justify cancelling school today.

But we did watch a lot of baseball in my classes today.

That is rather absurd. But I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't having trouble containing my hate for that horsefeathering ump, Sam Hellbrook, not to mention the occasional burst of anxiety interfering with the overall feeling of euphoria every time my mind wanders back to that 8th inning.

I can completely understand hysterical levels of h8 of Maddon during this game. Games 6 and 7 were easily, EASILY, the worst managed games I've seen him preside over during his Cubs tenure. ...but we still won. I can forgive him when my hangover is gone.

tribune shop website is completely worthless

Bummer. Sorry.

Have you tried calling your local Barnes & Noble yet? They might be able to help.

Yeah he was really bad the last two games. Its a good thing we have team full of Golden Adonises that overcame it, to be honest.

Something to be said that his managing of people over the course of the past two seasons has a part to play in them playing successfully. But his in-game tactical decisions were puzzling.

Had a dream that Javy went deep - squeaked one over the wall, just right of straight away center
I'm ready for Dex to go Chris Young and start this thing on the first pitch.

These predictions were terrible. Dex waited until the 4th pitch, and Javy's was the only of the 3 Cubs HRs that did NOT match that description.

Do better next time.

I demand a team full of catchers next season. Catchers are the greatest.

And Shortstops.

Why can't they make the whole team out of catchers and shortstops?

I've heard talk from a lot of people about inviting Steve Bartman to the parade, throw out the first pitch next year, etc... Everything I've ever read about the poor guy is that he just wants to be left alone. He's declined every interview or appearance since 2003. He has an attorney friend who handles all his calls, which the attorny does free of charge, and the attorney tells people the same thing over and over, that Steve doesn't want to come out publicly. I mean put yourself in his shoes, wouldn't you want the same? Bartman's life was severely altered in 2003. The whole thing is motifying and he's probably had many sleepless nights because of it. He doesn't want to be paraded around like some rescue puppy from the humane shelter and patted on the head and told everything is forgiven. He just wants to live his life and be left alone. I'm sure he's as thrilled as all of us the Cubs won the World Series and hopefully he gains a little peace of mind because of it.
