i just realized that unless we go up 3-0 in the world series, i will not have a single completely stress free game of baseball to watch for the remainder of 2016.

 

i've been tense as hell, especially since tuesday.

 

I think if the Cubs were up 2-0 after beating Kluber and whoever Cleveland starts in Game 2, the next game would be relatively stress free.

Game 4 I came home and had my last beer. Then I switched over to scotch. Eventually the Cubs were way ahead and I fell asleep in the 8th or 9th. Game 5 I made sure to do the exact same thing. Tonight my liver gets a break, but tomorrow it's back on.

There's quite the "bench Heyward" montra flowing through the internet today. I hope Joe is thinking the same. For some reason I like the idea of Ross catching, Willy in LF, and Zobrist in RF. Ross is such a great leader and on this stage that could be crucial in keeping the boys focused. I suppose you could have Willy catch, Soler in RF/LF, or even start Almora, but Soler has shown nothing and Almora shouldn't start in such a big game. Just my two cents.

I am not going to sleep tonight. I admit PTSD from 2003. I was at game 6, and it was not only seeing the game slip away, but the viciousness of the crowd. Everyone in the stadium chanting "horsefeathers" and me yelling at people to stop, and feeling their wrath turn to me. It was scary and sad. I just want tomorrow night to come, and the Cubs to win so I can have happy associations with a game 6.
