Not nervous at all. We have our ideal lineup both offensively and defensively, the best pitcher in the NL going, and playing at home.

 

Have a drink, take some deep breaths. After tonight there's only gonna be one historical hurdle left to pass.

That lineup playing for the pennant at Wrigley was a 99th percentile wet dream a few years ago.

 

I work with a Cards fan who kept telling me how good this bunch would be. I told him I'd believe it when I saw it.

Turns out he was right. Now he's reminding another Cubs fan I know that this bunch is not a Cubs team like he's seen before.

 

I don't know how that went so backwards, but I'm glad the guy was so right.

3.5 hours.....

Last month I was injured at work, and I've been out since. One upside is that this has allowed me to watch all the playoff games, since my typical shifts wouldn't allow me to. Well, I was supposed to return this coming week, which would have kept me from watching any potential weekday world series games live. But a couple of days ago the Insurance company and my employer agreed that I should take 2-3 more weeks.

 

So even though I am completely non-superstitious, I am going to interpret this as providence, and that there will be Cubs world series games for me to watch.

I was really hoping to be in Chicago for these games, but unfortunately I had to take a business trip to Jersey for the weekend.

 

Anyone know a good Cubs bar near Perth Amboy?

The injury sucks, but I should completely recover, though carrying around a few screws and plates. But if I get to watch a Cubs world series win (or just getting to the world series, if I'm being honest) live, this incapacity will have been totally worth it.

Yeah I wasn't nearly as angry at the game today as usual. I don't know if it was more because of the Cubs game tonight is far and away more important to me right now or if it was just indifference towards Kirk Ferentz, Greg Davis, and this 2016 team setting in, but instead of stewing all day/weekend after that loss I went and took a shower and quickly forgot about it until now. Football is dumb. Go Cubbies.

My nine year old son just pulled a Rizzo autograph out of his pack of cards we picked up this AM. This is the sign I've been waiting for.

I bought a giant W flag today. I have nowhere to hang it at the moment though, lol. Maybe I'll wear it as a cape tonight. :p
